For sale : White shoes, never worn

Walking along the street, I saw a girl showing a piece of white paper in front of her. The phrase "For sale : White shoes, never worn" leapt out at me.  

"What do you mean by that?"
I accosted her. 

"I've never worn these white shoes," she said. 

"Did you try them on?" I asked her, but she didn't say anything. 

Her appearance is decency itself. There seems no problem with her. She seems not to be poor. 

"Are these shoes too small for you to wear?" 

"No, not at all," she uttered at last. "I recently broke up with a boyfriend. He gave these shoes to me as a birthday present. I never see them without being reminded of him. I am terribly sad about that. So I've decided to buy them. 

"Oh, I truly sympathize with you. May I ask your age?" 

"I'm eight years old."

"O.K. I'll take these. How much are these?"

"Just only 100,000 yen. Thank you very much. I love you." 

売ります！白い靴、未着用

白い靴、売ります！未着用です！

通りを歩いていたら、一枚の紙を持っている女の子を見かけた。その紙には「白い靴、売ります！未着用です！」と書かれていて、私の目をひいた。

「それって、どういう意味かな？」と私は女の子に話しかけた。

「この白い靴は一度もはいたことがないのよ」と女の子は言った。

「試しにはいてみた？」と尋ねたが、返事がなかった。

女の子の身なりはとてもきちんとしている。何か問題を抱えているようには見えない。生活が苦しいわけでもないようだが。

「この靴は小さすぎてはけないのかな？」

「全然そんなことはないのよ」
ようやく女の子が口を開いた。
「最近、ボーイフレンドと別れたの。彼がこの靴を誕生日プレゼントとしてくれたのよ。この靴を見るたびに、彼のことを思い出すわ。それがひどく悲しくって。だから、売ることにしたのよ」

「それは、それはつらかったですね。お気持ちがわかります。悪いけど、お年を聞いてもいいかな？」

「８歳よ」

「そっか、わかった。この靴はいくらかな？」

「たったの10万円よ。どうもありがとう。おじさん大好きよ」
