Tips for checking your design at work no.02

Hi, I'm tanakakeisuke. Thank you for reading!
This blog is written for people who do "design checking and judging" as a job. I'm trying not to be too formal, and I'm writing in a lazy tone, so please forgive me for any typos or omissions.
Last time, I wrote about "Introduction". This time, I'm going to write about "Research"!

part: Research

"I think it will be much easier for you to make design checks and judgments if you do some research on your own or with your team before making design checks and judgments. But how and where to do this research?

・How to research websites
・How to research banners
・UI research methods
・How to research advertisements
・etc.

First of all, I think it is good to write down the purpose of the design in text. You may have done this verbally in the meeting when you made the request, but if you write it down in five minutes or so before the meeting, you may be surprised at what you find.

Example: Website
Category: Corporate Website
Who will see it: New customers, people considering hiring, companies you are currently working with, banks
What not to do: dishonest, low credibility, makes the company look overly large
What you want it to look like: cool, current

The next step is to search for a website that has a summary site that might be helpful. The search term is "corporate website design samples".

There are a number of sites that appear, so browse through them. If you find something you like, you can take a screenshot or take a picture of it with your iphone if it's too much trouble. pinterest or bookmarking is also good, but if that's too much trouble, you can use whatever method you think is easiest. Let's be selfish!

Then, line up the things you like and make text of them again. You don't need to connect long sentences, just short ones. I will write down the good and bad parts here.
I think the good and the bad as well as the triangular concept 'selfish ⭕️❌🔺 way' w, but I think that will be long enough, so I will try to write it again.

Example: Reference 1
Good
Pictures, English, and text are easy to understand
Bad
I don't know what kind of company it is, is it a model-like employee?

For now, it would be good to have as many different patterns as possible in the three samples so far. There is a more detailed way to do this, but it takes time, so I don't think it's necessary. By the way, I've seen a lot of patterns where people with high status or decision-making authority make quick decisions without doing any research. I think it's better to do research the more you have decision-making authority.

I'm going to end this now because it's getting too long. Thank you very much!
