PBS News Weekend July 8, 2023

今日は上の動画サイトの字幕に多くの誤りや省略があったので（週末版はいつもそうです）、字幕ファイルを作るのはやめて簡単な語句説明だけにしました。下の語句の説明のところの英語は、実際に英語音声を聞いて誤りを訂正し、省略を補足してあります。

いつものような字幕ファイルが必要な人は、リンク先の方法で簡単にできますので自分で作ってください（元の字幕に含まれている誤りや省略はそのままになります）。

週末版の字幕は、翌日以降に比較的正確なものに差し替えられるようです。でも、ニュース番組なので、翌日以降に更新されても…

[12:49] I want to ask you also about the racial disparity that we noticed that the homelessness numbers seemed to be particularly high among Black and Native American communities. How do you explain those disparities?
>> I mean, these are communities that have been disparately impacted by structural racism [* = 構造的人種差別。このあとに、例が挙げられている] throughout the generations, their communities that were really shut out of building wealth through homebuying. They have not only faced discrimination in their daily activities, but have huge, huge deficits in household wealth -- much of it, because of the ways that they have been shut out of housing markets, which are the main way that Americans build wealth. And I think you add to that the other forms of oppression, discrimination, and our criminal justice system, discrimination in employment system, and all the other forms that racism has lead to this hugely disparate impact.
