More than 4,000 people have applied to join the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency or JAXA
after an advert
was posted
calling for new astronauts.
This is the first time in 13 years JAXA has called for new astronauts to join its program.
And it is the first time
they have opened
their doors to applicants
without a university degree.
They are now looking for people with a wide range of work experience and talents to come forward.
After an initial health examination,
recruits will have to successfully pass four rounds of tests to make it into the prestigious JAXA program.
The selection process should be completed by February 2023.
