敵などいないと君は言う。
残念だが、友よ、そんな自慢に価値はない。
優れた忍耐力を持つものであっても
つとめを果たさんと戦いに出て、敵を作るのだ。
敵がいないのは、君が戦おうとしてこなかったからだ。
誰にも裏切られたことがないのは、
その企みを阻もうとしてこなかったからだ。
つまり君は、悪しき行いを正そうともせず
戦いにおいて臆病者だったということだ。
