ASPaC Workshop in Chung Yuan University, Taiwan

Mr. Mori, ASPaC Vice Chairman and Mr. Yabe, ASPaC executive committee visited Chung Yuan University that Taiwan is proud of as a prestigious comprehensive university. In the lecture hall with more than 200 students gathered, Mr. Mori made an introduction of JPDA and ASPaC briefing and then explained about the ASPaC awards.

After that, Mr. Yabe gave a seminar entitled “Regional revitalization and design bridging Japan and Asia”

We saw a lot of eager students making notes seriously, which led us to believe that they were deeply interested in package design.

After the seminar, we moved on to a workshop in a different venue.

We heard that Mr. Kimura of GK Graphics gave a lecture every year here at Chung Yuan University and that was why some students understood Japanese. We started the workshop introduction in a relaxed atmosphere, biting Koala no March.

Despite the shortest workshop we had done before, we proceeded smoothly from discussion, concepts work and to design.

They asked number of acute questions during the time. Their attitude toward creating a package design was semi-professional. Observing that they never gave up until the end in creating objects, checking them and modifying to complete them, we assumed they received a high design education.

In their presentation, there was a large variety of design such as display friendly design for over the counter or package seeking an easiness of eating. The degree of their work and their presentation skill was so great that we were almost led to believe that ASPaC Grand prize would go to Taiwan.

We were surrounded by full of smile of satisfaction from students and teachers.
