Buying Trip to Poland "Targowisko MŁYN"

I used to buy fabric to make babouche from stores in Germany, but occasionally I would order from shops in Poland. I had always wanted to visit the store in person, so when I had some free time, I decided to go to Wrocław. It was quite a tight schedule, as I had to leave Berlin on Sunday morning and return on Tuesday night, with a distance of 350 kilometers taking about four hours by car.

Not only did I want to purchase fabric, but I also planned to visit the antique market on the first day and check out pottery in Boleslawiec on the way back. It was quite an ambitious plan, but I thought that customers who travel all the way from Japan to Morocco for purchasing have even tighter schedules, so it should be achievable.

This was my primary destination."Targowisko MŁYN"

There is a weekly market held in the ruins of a 19th-century brick flour mill. The market offers a wide range of products including fresh produce from nearby farms, ham, cheese, and other perishable goods. In addition, there are antique and used items that are reminiscent of European flea markets, all arranged around the building. According to Google Maps, the market opens at 5 am (before dawn?) and closes at 4 pm. However, individual vendors decide when to close up shop, so some of the outside fresh food stalls may begin packing up as early as 1 pm. (The doors to the building were also half-closed by 3 pm, so it's better to go in the morning if you're interested in going inside.)

This weekly market is a unique experience, where visitors can wander around the ruins of the flour mill while shopping for fresh produce and browsing for antiques. The early morning start might be difficult for some, but it's worth it for the chance to see this historic location come alive with vendors and visitors.

This market is located along abandoned train tracks near a train station that may be reopened in the future. As a result, the market may be relocated or closed if the station is reopened. However, it is currently a popular destination for those interested in antiques and the unique atmosphere of the market. Visitors can enjoy exploring the historic flour mill ruins and the eclectic array of goods for sale, even if they do not plan to make any purchases.

For those who appreciate vintage items and unique market experiences, this is a must-visit location. The possibility of the market's closure adds to its charm and makes it even more special. If you are in the area, be sure to check it out before it's too late.

The atmosphere was so lovely that I found myself more interested in taking photos of the place rather than browsing through the merchandise.

Since I was short on time, I wasn't there to shop as much as I was to soak in the ambiance and architecture, so I was quite satisfied with the experience.
However, for those who do plan on shopping, be warned that there is quite an overwhelming selection of goods to browse through, so you'll need ample time to explore. They had a variety of items for sale, such as vintage Polish pottery, old East German children's toys, charming East German tea sets, gorgeous chandeliers, cute vintage candy tins, elegant silver spoons, rickety chairs, chipped ceramics, cracked mirrors, and antique lamps with outdated cords.

All of the items had price tags, and they were cheaper than what you'd find at Berlin's flea markets. It seemed like you could negotiate the prices if you bought multiple items, but the vendors only spoke Polish, which I didn't understand. However, the person I did talk to was very friendly.

I didn't have much time to explore this place thoroughly, so I'm looking forward to taking my time and visiting from the morning next time. Being in a place like this is a great source of inspiration for designing and curating products.

Our collection of Babouche made from this fabric released with each style limited to about 30-50 pairs. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity!
