全国通訳案内士の二次試験は、受験外国語による口述試験。
主に3つの要素から構成されており、語学能力だけでなくコミュニケーション力やホスピタリティも評価基準となる。以下、2023年度の私の受験レポートです。

試験の流れ

私が指定された試験時間は10時から11時の枠。4人1組に分けられ、順番が来るまで待機。服装は男性はスーツの方が多く、女性はカジュアルな装いの人も。(私はワンピースにジャケット) 面接官は日本人と外国人各1名、所要時間は一人10分ほど。私は組の4番目だったので比較的待ち時間も長く、受付から試験終了まで2時間くらい。たくさんのスタッフが案内役でいて、試験会場の移動など機械的に行われる。

プレゼンテーション

試験はプレゼン問題から開始。3つのテーマから１つ選び、2分程度でプレゼンする。

プレゼンの再現

I’d like to talk about Bon-odori. It is part of the Obon event held in the middle of summer. It is believed that ancestors’ spitits return to their family during this time. People visit family graves and offer flowers, celebrating with the Bon dance. One of the most famous Bon festival is the Awa dance, which is held on Shikoku island. The festival attracts people with its lively movemnet. I belive that attending a local festival provides deep insigit into Japanese culture.

It depends on the festival. Generally, they dance in a large circle with slow movemnets, and it is open to all ages.

日本文の再現

広島平和記念公園は原爆の慰霊者のために造られた。慰霊者を追悼するための記念碑が建てられている。原爆資料館には犠牲者の遺品や写真、資料が展示されている。敷地内にある原爆ドームは文化遺産に登録されている。

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is dedicated to the victims of the atomic bomb attack. There is a memorial stone dedicted for them. The Peace Memorial Musem displays personal belongings, photos, and infromantion about victims. The Atomic Bomb Dome is recognized as a cultural heritage site.

通訳案内の実務

通訳案内の現場で想定される状況についてどのように対応するかが問われる。例題の紙を30秒で黙読し、その後質疑応答。

例題の再現

原爆資料館は混んでおり、入館まで一時間はかかるとのこと。事前予約は受け付けていないため、炎天下の中並ぶことになりそうです。お客様はこの後、宮島や広島焼きを食べる予定です。

that stands over the ocean. A large torii gate also stands over the ocean.

Are Japanese pancakes different from Western pancakes?

Japanese pancake are savory pancakes cooked with various ingredients such as vegetables, pork and seafood. You can choose from a wide variety of options.

Sounds like they are very different.

まとめ

記憶が曖昧な部分もあるけれど、一応大まかな流れをまとめてみた。

反省点としては、プレゼンテーションは緊張で早口になってしまい目安の2分より大分時間を残して終えてしまった。原爆資料館の閉館時間は後で調べたら6時だったので、誤情報を伝えてしまった。宮島が混んでいるかの質問に、混雑時の代替案を提示せずまあ大丈夫でしょうと曖昧な返答をしてしまった。外国人試験官への返答に気を取られて、日本人の方へのアイコンタクトはあまりできず。

試験管は非常に協力的だった。私が言いよどんだり、言葉を探していると助けぶねを出してくれた。おかげで、最後のQ&Aの際には楽しくやり取りできた。

二次試験は机上の勉強というよりは、実際の現場に則した研修の様でガイドへのモチベーションも高まった。
