1. The trigger: Participation in renovation seminar

“Anything is possible !”
“I want to live in a well-lit, airy, and spacious apartment.” That was the motivation for Mr. and Mrs. Y to move. They participated in blue studio’s renovation seminar and decided to start their renovation journey with us.

"There have been cases where bicycles are parked in the room... and it seemed like we really can do anything we want!" Mr. and Mrs. Y feeling surprised.

With the wide variety of pre-owned apartments available on the market, we can focus on choosing the town where we want to live. That’s one of the things that make renovation so attractive. And so, Mr. and Mrs. Y decided to look for a pre-owned apartment in the town they are familiar with.

2. Real estate hunting: Property with an unusual floor plan

Possibilities of renovation
The property that we introduced to Mr. and Mrs. Y was a 43-year-old pre-owned apartment.
The room was well-lit and well-ventilated. It has 2 balconies on both sides of the apartment and that was where we saw the potential of the apartment. We thought that by emphasizing the openness of the apartment using the balconies, the spacious living space that they desired could be realized.

On the other hand, it was an apartment with an unusual floor plan. A duplex room where only the entrance hall was located on the first floor and the living spaces on the second floor. However, knowing the potential of the apartment, they decided to purchase it.

3. Renovation: Trick that creates spaciousness.

An invisible horizon made out of furnitures.
To realize Mr. and Mrs. Y desired living space, what we proposed was a flat space created by shelves and tables that were at the same height of 72cm. The "invisible horizon" created by these furnitures makes the space visually larger and more spacious.

In addition, by making the spaces other than the toilet and bathroom a one-room studio space,
we proposed a large open space with balconies on both sides that allow natural light and breeze to flow into the space. Through several meetings with Mr. and Mrs. Y, we also came up with the idea of incorporating their favorite colors into the design.

4. Completion: A spacious 65m2 studio apartment

Through the stairs at the entrance, you walk into a spacious 65m2 studio space. We loosely separated the bedroom and the living space by installing a transparent amber glass partition in between that was visually connected.

We have boldly highlighted the kitchen by incorporating Mrs. Y's favorite yellow color. While making the kitchen fully open to emphasize the horizontal lines, a large number of storage spaces for home appliances were provided within the shelves so that the tops of the shelves and tables could be kept clean and neat all the time.

The floor in the kitchen was slightly lowered to provide a comfortable cooking experience while keeping the height of the kitchen counter and other furnitures matched. Standing there, you can enjoy an almost half-bath-like experience.

Besides, the walls in the toilet were painted olive green, the shoe cupboard in nile blue, the closet in royal blue, and a few other places in colors chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Y.

5. New life: Things in common that turned into the interior

Decorate with fashion, music, bicycles, and so on.
After renovation, the apartment was filled with items of Mr. and Mrs. Y’s common hobbies.

The bicycles were hung on the wall of the stairs that connect the entrance and the living space. The open shelves at the landing of the stairs were displayed with neatly organized shoes that blends and became part of the interior.

“If we had collected the furniture by ourselves, we probably would not have been able to live in such comfort.” Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Y were talking about the built-in work desk. The workspace surrounded by waist-high shelves and desks was almost like a small room where you feel calm and focused.
