Am I the only one who thinks that democracy itself in this country is on shaky ground right now?
Not only the proposed constitutional amendment, but everything seems to be a reversion to the militaristic ideology of the Meiji era, unwittingly pushing toward a totalitarian ideology that has no respect for the individual.

I respect Kenzaburo Oe very much. On March 3, 2023, Mr.Oe passed away of old age.
I gazed at the news of his passing with a feeling as if I had heard the final tolling of a literary bell.

By the way I feel that the news of Mr. Oe's death is somewhat small. I also feel that Mr. Oe's works are treated less favorably in bookstores.
Is it my imagination that I somehow feel something about the way his achievements are treated?
