I was completely astonished to learn that Ippei Mizuhara, Shohei Ohtani's long-time interpreter and close friend, has been fired by the LosAngeles Dodgers following allegations of illegal gambling and embezzlement from Ohtani. The Dodgers have announced that they are currently in the process of gathering more information regarding the incident. 

Mizuhara had been Ohtani's constant companion, interpreting for him during his interactions with the media. Mizuhara appears very intelligent and handles his interpreting work well, so I couldn't believe the news at first. It was reported that Mizuhara had incurred more than $1 million debt by the end of 2022. I couldn't imagine that one person could spend such a huge amount of money on gambling alone. In the article, he admitted that he is addicted to gambling. Both Japanese and foreign media outlets will follow him and, for that matter, Ohtani closely.
