好きな英語表現#27 Draw the Line

好きな英語表現は色々あるけれど、27個目はコレ。
Draw the Line.
この言葉を好きな理由は、信じるものを動きで表しているから。
どんな意味？
to put a limit on what you will do or allow to happen, esp. because you feel something is wrong:
to define a limit in anything
think of or treat one thing as different from another
to set the limit of what you are willing to do
to never do something because you think it is wrong
refuse to go any further than
～まで行く手前で一線を引く、～の手前に引いた一線を越えない、～することを拒否する、～することに反対する
禁じる
区別する
境界線を引く
譲れない一線を示す
この言葉は『Benefit of the Doubt』と対になるコンセプト。
この線超えたらおしまいのライン。
きっぱりと最初からあって然るべき。
やんわりなんとなくあるものではなくて、確実で動かない一線。
一線を越えると言いますが、超えたらアウトのライン。
許容範囲が広いのは悪い事ではないのですが、
ある一定の物事の場合許してはいけないものがある。
一回でも許しちゃうと、境界線のその一線がクリアでなくなってしまう。
Draw the line to let them know what are not acceptable.

この言葉を選んだ理由は、はっきりさせておくと便利だから。
微妙なところに白黒つけられるようになってくるから。
微妙だったらもうアウトなんだな、って
すこしでもダメなラインかすったらダメ。
潔癖すぎる？
じゃあ少しだけならOK.
超えたらアウトで。
