Following proofs, I have just finished the Laws of Indices and Surds. They were much easier to understand than the proofs. I could understand them and answer the questions faster than I expected.
When I am doing maths, I always have a weird sense. I can understand them much easier and faster than I expected. Sometimes, I wonder if I have really understood them. But I do not mind it so much. I am just happy to understand them and keep on going.
I still do not know exactly why I can understand them so well. But I seemed to have developed my maths skills through a lot of experiences after leaving school. At a glance, it looked like my experiences had nothing to do with maths, but in fact, they had some relevance to maths. I do not know which one had the relevance. It seemed to come from Excel and Access. By the time I retired, I had used them every day and had developed a small system for my own use. I learnt the tools on my own, using books and websites. It was great fun to see that the more I learned them, the more I could work more efficiently.
However, I no longer have a chance to use the tools after retirement. And I had missed using them. That might be why I began to do maths instead of the tools.

　証明に続いて、指数法則と平方根を終えたところです。証明よりもはるかに分かりやすかったです。また、思っていたよりも早く理解でき、問題にも答えられました。
　数学をしていると、いつも不思議な感覚を覚えます。思っていたよりずっと簡単かつ早く理解できるのです。本当に理解できているのだろうかと不安になることもあります。でも、あまり気にしていません。理解できたことがただうれしくて、進み続けています。
　こんなによく分かる理由が不明です。でも、学校を出た後に得たさまざまな経験を通して数学の能力を高めてきたようです。一見、数学とは何の関係もなさそうな経験も、実は数学と何らかの関係があったようです。どれが関連していたのかはわかりません。でも、エクセルとアクセスからきているようです。
　定年を迎えるまで、エクセルとアクセスを毎日使っていました。また、自分用に小さなシステムも作ったりしていました。これらのツールは本やウェブサイトを使って独学で習得しました。学べば学ぶほど、効率よく仕事ができるので、とても楽しかったです。
でも、定年後はそのツールを使う機会がなくなってしまい、寂しさを感じていました。これが、代わりに数学の勉強を始めた理由かもしれません。
