As I wrote in my previous article, I had been nervous these days. But what had made me nervous finally came to an end. I was fortunate to become a grandfather. My daughter had her first baby, who was my first grandchild, too. Just a few days after the birth, my daughter and her baby came to my home and were going to stay with me for about a month. When I saw the baby for the first time, I could not help but smile. Since then, I have enjoyed living with her every day. Sometimes I try my facial expressions to communicate with her. So far, she has not responded at all but I will keep doing it until she does.
It was only twice in my life that I have had a chance to see newborn babies. The first one is my daughter and the second is her baby. Their births were one of the happiest moments in my life, but at the same time, they were the moments I got nervous the most, too. They always made me very nervous at the moment I heard they were about to be born. I had never been to their births, but I was so ill-at-ease that I used to pray at home for their safe deliveries. And the moment I heard that they were born safely and that their mothers were also doing well, I was released from the nervousness and relaxed. Then, I exploded in joy. And the more time has passed, the more overjoyed I have become.
I am really grateful that my daughter gave me a chance to see her baby, my first grandchild. At the same time, I hope the baby will grow up healthy.

　数日前の記事で落ち着かない日々が続いていると書きましたが、ようやく落ち着きました。うれしいことに、おじいちゃんになりました。娘に子供が生まれ、初孫を迎えました。生まれて数日後に、娘と赤ちゃんが我が家にきました。これから一か月ほど家にいてくれます。初めて、赤ちゃんを見た時は、思わず笑みがこぼれました。それ以来、毎日、彼女との暮らしを楽しんでいます。時には、顔芸で赤ちゃんとコミュニケーションをとろとするのですが、まだ反応してくれません。でも、反応してくれるまで続けるつもりです。
　生まれたばかりの赤ちゃんにであったのは２回だけです。最初が娘で、次が今回の娘の赤ちゃんです。二人の誕生はボクの人生の中で最高にうれしい瞬間ではありますが、最高に緊張する時でもあります。二人が生まれそうだと連絡を受けると、すごく緊張しました。ボクは出産に立ち会ったことはありませんが、落ち着かないため、家で無事生まれることを祈っていました。赤ちゃんが無事生まれ、母親の元気と行くと、ほっとし、その後に喜びが爆発しました。それからは、時間と共に、喜びが大きくなりました。
娘の赤ちゃんにあえて本当に感謝です。それと共に、すくすくと育つことを願うばかりです。
