Japan was in an uproar on November 8. It saw a rare celestial event that night. The moon was eclipsed and then hid Uranus. It was the first time in 442 years. It was headline news on TV and the Internet, including NHK’s news programmes at 19:00 and 21:00.
It fueled my wife, too. Since she had come home, she was in excitement about it. She went in and out of the house several times to observe it live. She ended up seeing the lunar eclipse but failing to see Uranus hidden.
I was not so interested in it. I, by chance, found a TV programme by BS Fuji airing the event and watched it between 7 and 8. But I got bored with it since it was silent. Thus, I changed the channel to a programme starring Akashiya Sanma san. The once-in-a-lifetime event succumbed to Sanma san.
Celestial shows are too spectacular for me to follow it.

　11月8日は、大型の天体ショーで大騒ぎでした。442年ぶりに、皆既月食と天王星食が同時に起こりました。テレビやネットでも大きく取り上げられていました。NHKの夜の7時や21時のニュース番組でも取り上げられていました。それに煽られて、妻も興奮気味でした。生で観ようと家から出たり入ったりと繰り返していました。結局、皆既月食は少し見れたようですが、天王星食はまったく見えなかったようです。
　ボクはというと、妻や世間の人ほど感心が高くありませんでした。19時台はBSフジのサブチャンネルでこの天体ショーを放映していたので見ていましたが、無声だったため飽きてしまいました。そして、20時からはチャンネルとかえて明石家さんまさんの番組を見ました。生涯に一度の天体ショーもさんまさんのお笑いの魅力に屈してしまいました。
天体のイベントは壮大過ぎて、ボクにはついていけません。
