For the past six months, I have seen almost every day that a police car has passed by my flat. The car is of small size with two policewomen. They warn us not to fall for phone scams. They do it loudly with a microphone. They also use stickers on the sides to alert us. It warns the passersby not to listen to what is told in strange phone calls and not to do anything about it. They always pass by my flat at around 10 a.m. after the commuting hours. These hours must be the best time to attract as much attention as possible from the elderly.
I have heard it every day so that the warning has stuck to my mind. As soon as I hear the sounds of a microphone in the distance, I have grown to know it is the sign of the police car coming again. I do not know clearly what it is saying, but am automatically reminded of what it always says when I hear the sounds. It must help the elderly to memorize the warnings.
In my case, I always assume that every landline call is a strange one as none of my lovers use the line to call me. So I make it a rule not to answer any landline calls. Even if I do answer a call by mistake, I just wait for the caller to say my name without saying it myself. Thus, I am unlikely to fall for a phone scam. However, the warnings help me to be more cautious about the phone scams.

　この半年間、パトカーが毎日のように家の近所を走り回っています。婦人警官が二人乗ったミニパトです。マイクを使って、大きな声で、オレオレ詐欺に引っかからないようにと警告しています。ミニパトの側面にも、これに関するステッカーが貼られています。通行人に、不審な電話の話は聞かない、また話にのって行動しないよう警告しています。ミニパトは、通勤通学の時間が過ぎたころに来ます。きっと、この時間帯がシニアの耳に一番届くのでしょう。
　これだけ毎日のようにミニパトに大きな音声で警告されると、耳に残って離れなくなります。言っていることがわからない遠いところでマイク音が響くと、ミニパトが来たと思うようになり、警告を思い出します。これだけやると、シニアの記憶に残ると思います。
　ボクの場合、家の電話がなった場合、怪しい電話と決めつけています。なので、基本的に電話は取りません。とっても、自分から名乗らないことにしています。ミニパトの警告は、ボクの警戒心をさらに強めてくれました。
