Watching the aristocrats and their servants survive the turbulent times, I feel it so real. It looks as if they were in our time. World War I is the Ukraine invasion by Russia in our time: it could be the entrance to World War III. The Spanish flu is equivalent to the COVID-19 outbreak. Then telephones are like IT technologies in our times. Gasoline cars are now switching to eco-cars like EVs and FCVs.
Reducing these times to our time, we can see some hints to survive our tough times. The waning aristocrats are in dire straits. But they try to establish new businesses to survive. One of three daughters starts a publishing company to care for herself. She also endeavours to improve the status of women. Servants face difficulties, too. The tough times remove some jobs from them and force them to change their way of life. A servant becomes a teacher, and another starts farming. They struggle to change their way of living to survive. It shows that the only way to stay alive is to take action.

　こうした激変の時代を貴族と使用人が生き抜く姿を見ていると、約100年も前の事とは思えないほどリアル感があります。現代に置き換えると、第一次大戦がウクライナ戦争（第三次大戦の入口ともささやかれています）、スペイン風邪がコロナ。電話の誕生がIT技術の進歩。そして、自動車の誕生がEVやFCVなどのエコカーの誕生です。このように置き換えてこのドラマを見ると、困難な現代を生き抜くヒントがあります。
　衰退の苦境にある貴族は、時代の激変に困惑しますが、新しいビジネスの立ち上げに取組み、一族の維持反映に努めます。また、貴族の娘の一人は自活のために出版社を立ち上げ、女性の地位向上をめざします。更に、使用人たちも屋敷の仕事がなくなるため、生き方を変えます。教師になるもののいれば、農業をする人もいます。それぞれが、自分の生き方を変えよと格闘します。生き抜くには行動しかないようです。
