最終グループの6分間練習中の映像では、デヴィッド・ペルティエさんがこの大会でのシングル男子の見どころのポイントとして、2点を挙げており、1つ目は五輪に向けての衣裳のリハーサルを兼ねるという点。ショーマ・ウノとボーヤン・ジンがまさにそれ。そして2つ目のポイントをしては、今季は五輪に行かなかった選手達の救済の意も、という話が。どちらにしても、いずれにせよ、競技は競技。さて滑りましょう、と。

ブレンダ・アーヴィング（以下、ブレンダ）：一人のスケーターを残すこととなりました、ここ四大陸選手権。ボーヤン・ジンは二度の世界選手権のメダリストで、連続して銅メダル（を獲得）。
中国男子としては、世界選手権のメダルを史上初で獲得しています。
このところ、今季は彼にとって苦難の多いシーズンであります。
彼は両足首を怪我し、そしてそのためにプログラム（の構成を）下げざるを得ませんでした。
彼はショート後、二位でショーマ・ウノと実質的に互角です。
【演技開始】
キャロル・レーン（以下、キャロル）：　彼はそれでも、4本のクアド構成予定を持っているのよ、だから、、、（笑）あんまりここより（構成を）下げてはいないわねｗ
デヴィッド・ペルティエ（以下、デヴィッド）：最初のは『4Lz』、、、キャロル、これを、僕はフィギュアスケートで話し、言うことになるとは思いもしなかったよ。
キャロル：私も思わなかったわ、分かるわ。
デヴィッド：スポーツは発展していっている。だから、ここにて4Lzが来ます。

デヴィッド：はっはっはっはっは～～！！！（大笑い）
キャロル：これは、ただの4Lzじゃないわ、信じられないほど素晴らしい4Lzよ！なんてことでしょう！
デヴィッド：僕はただただ開いた口が塞がらないよ。
キャロル：（笑）

キャロル：4S！ 2本降りたわ、もう2本行くわよ！（笑）

デヴィッド：彼が着氷する時、とても姿勢がいいね。美しい。
空中姿勢にはほとんど関係なく。頭からつま先まで、とてもぐっと伸びている。
【ダースベーダーの呼吸音が入る】
デヴィッド：彼がここまでやり遂げた全てのことに、プラスのGOEが付いている。近頃では、クアドをするだけでは十分じゃないんだ。スケーターは自分の（出場した前の）大会より、より良くしなければいけない。
【カンティーナのパートが終わり、次のジャンプへとスピードを上げる】
キャロル：さて、仕事に戻るわよ。次のクアドの為に上げていくわ。

キャロル：4T-2T、プログラムの後半なのに、まるで何でもないことのようね。
デヴィッド：彼がそれらをすると、初歩の初歩みたいに見えちゃうね。
キャロル：ホントそうね。

デヴィッド：本日初のちょっと苦戦アリのジャンプコンボ。

キャロル：彼は今や、連続した5本の一連のジャンプをプログラムの後半でやり遂げたわ。信じられない！
粘り強く、集中して、それをやることができるとは。

キャロル：私は、彼が平昌で『彼自身がフォースと共にあらんことを』と、願っているのを確信しているわ、まさに彼が今日、ここ四大陸（選手権）で滑った時のようにね。
【演技終了】
ブレンダ：彼は、中国男子史上初の、五輪でメダルを獲得する希望を携えてシーズンを始めました。彼はこれまで、ISUのチャンピオン・シップで優勝したことは一度もありません。彼にとって、初（の優勝）となるでしょうか？　これは接戦になることでしょう。
キャロル：私、くたくたに疲れちゃったわ。（笑）
デヴィッド：ジャンプは全く問題が無かった、楽々とこなしているように見えた。【リプレイが映る】見るのに、少しも痛いところが無かった。
僕は彼のジャンプを見てられるよ、ずっと。。。（※と言ってから、次の言葉を探すようにしている）
キャロル：ずっと一日中。
デヴィッド：ずっと一日中、ね。さて、（※4Lzのリプレイが映る）これらの美しさを見てくれ、4Lz。おぉ～！
キャロル：驚くほど美しいわね、間違いなく見事だわ。
デヴィッド：部分的にはちょっとだけ役柄に入ったり、かけ離れたりをしている。けれど、つまり、ある程度は同感するけど、言いたいのは、僕たちはそれを悪いと指摘しないといけないんだが、だけど、これらは。。。
キャロル：（成功に）犠牲はつきもの、でしょ？
デヴィッド：そうです。
キャロル：もしスケーターがこれらのジャンプをあんな風に跳ぶのであれば、何かが少々、犠牲にならざる得ない。
デヴィッド：ですね。加えて、それは成長と共にやって来るでしょうね。
キャロル：そうよ。
デヴィッド：けれど本当にその通りです。スケーターはそうするしかない。。。もしこんな風に跳びたいのであれば、幾つかの事柄は手放すようにならざる得ない。
キャロル：そうね。ジャンプの着氷も、美しく質が高いわ。それに、（ジャンプの）入りも出も。
彼は急がないのよ、彼は、、、彼は、彼自身がきちんと動ける形での速度でのプログラムを持っているのよ。
あらためて、これはジェイソン・ブラウンとはまるっきり逆なのは明らか。
彼は何が出来るか分かっているし、彼はそれにはどうすればいいかも分かっている、加えて、彼はそれをもう少しで達成できそうなところに（ゴールを）設定していて、それで彼はやり遂げる。

ブレンダ：じつに、ショーマ・ウノとボーヤン・ジンは、ショート・プログラムのあと、実質的に互角で僅差です。

ブレンダ：200点越えでシーズン・ベストです！
そして、彼は本当に初の四大陸選手権での優勝です。ショーマは2位です。二人のスケーターの点差はたった3点差です。
それなので、ボーヤンはショートは2位で終えたのですが、フリー・スケートでは勝利し、総合優勝です。

Brenda Irving: One skater left to come here at the Four Continents Competition. Boyang Jin is a two-time world medallist, one back-to-back bronze medals. The only Chinese man ever to win a world medal. Now, this has been a challenging season for him. He injured his ankles and that forced to downgrade his programmes. He was the second after the short here in a virtual tie with Shoma Uno.

Carol Lane: He still has got four quad planned, so...[laugh] not much of downgrade from here.
David Pelletier: First is a 4Lz...which, Carol, I'd never thought I'd say, I'd be talking about this in Figure Skating.
Carol: No, I know.
David: Sports has evolved. So here comes the 4Lz.

David: Hahahahaha---.[laugh loudy]
Carol: It's not just a 4Lz, a FABULOUS 4Lz! Oh, boy!
David: I'm quite speechless.
Carol: [laugh]

Carol: 4S! Two down, two to go!

David: Very uplight when he lands, beautiful. He has a little to do with the in-air position. Very extended from head to toe.

David: Everything he's done so far, it's giving him positive Grade of Execution [G.O.E.]. It's not enough to do quads these days. you have to do them better than your competition.

Carol: Now back to the business, up for the next quad.

Carol: 4T-2T like it's nothing in the second half of the programme.
David: He makes them look elementary.
Carol: Sure, does.

David: First jumping pass today that giving them a little bit of a challenge.

Carol: He's now done five jumping passes back-to-back in the second half the programme. Unbelievable! Resilient and concentration to be able to do that.

Carol: I'll sure he'll be hoping that "The force will be with him"
in PyeongChang just as he does skating here today in Four Continents.

Brenda: He began the season with the hopes of being the first Chinese man to win an Olympic medal. He's never won and ISU Championship before. Could this be the first for him? It's going to be close.
Carol: I'm exhausted.[laugh]
David: The jumps were absolutely unchallenged. It was effortless. 【リプレイが映る】Painless to watch.  I'd watch his jump all...
Carol: All day.
David: All day long. Now, those are flowers. look at the 4Lz. Oh!
Carol: Stunning, absolutely stunning.
David: The part is a little bit in and out of character. I mean, at certain agree, I mean, we have to blame it. But, these...
Carol: Sacrifices have to be made, right?
David: Yes.
Carol: If you're going to do those jumps like that, something has to give a little bit.
David: Yes, and that comes with maturity.
Carol: Yeah.
David: But true, exactly. You have to... kind of let go of a few things if you want to jump like that.
Carol: Yeah. Beautiful quality on the jump landing, too. And entries and exits.
He wasn't rush, he...he's got the programme paced the way it works for him.
And again, it's exactly for Jason Brown in reverse. He knows what he can do and he knows how to do it and he set about to accomplish it and he did.

Brenda: So, Shoma Uno and Boyang Jin were virtual tie close after the short programme.

Brenda: Shoma, he's in break now.

Brenda: Season's best over 200 points! So he will win his very first Four Continents Championship. Shoma will finish in second place. Just a three points difference separating the two skaters. So Boyang finished the second in the short, but wins the free skate and overall title.
