オペラの評価

ベルクの《ヴォツェック》は、音楽史上初めて無調で作曲されたオペラで、20世紀になって書かれた最もすぐれたオペラの一つに数えられる作品です。ベルクの音楽のもつ多彩な響きを実に巧みに表出した見事な演奏で、現代曲をよく採り上げているアバドとしても、最高の演奏の一つと言えるでしょう。

アバドの、緻密でしかも即興性もあり、すこぶる表情と色彩に富んだ指揮がダイナミックな好録音によって迫力を倍増、異様なまでの生々しさとなって迫るF。

独唱陣も粒が揃っており、このオペラの強烈なドラマを万全に表現しています。

マリー役のベーレンスは、歌唱至難なスコアを正確に、しかも豊かな感情を盛り込みながら歌っており、至難な役どころを完璧に歌いきっていて素晴らしい。

さらに見事なのはツェドニクの大尉で、実に多彩な声の色を駆使しながら、役の俗物性をさらけ出し、また鬼気迫る表現も生み出していま。

1986年からウィーン国立歌劇場の音楽監督をつとめていたアバドと同歌劇場の初のオペラ録音で、絶賛を博した上演のライヴがYouTubeで視聴できます。

Scene 4: Wozzeck is the subject of a doctor's human experiment, and he is told that he cannot eat anything other than beans.

Scene 5: Marie enters the house with the drummer. Wozzeck discovers that Marie is cheating on her.

Act 2

Opera ratings

Berg's ``Wozzeck'' was the first opera in musical history to be composed atonally, and is considered one of the greatest operas written in the 20th century. It is a wonderful performance that skillfully brings out the diverse tones of Berg's music, and it can be said to be one of Abbado's best performances, as he often uses modern pieces.

Abbado's detailed yet improvisatory conducting, with his extremely expressive and colorful conducting, is doubled in its impact by a good dynamic recording, and the F is brought to life in an unusually vivid way.

The soloists are well-equipped and fully express the intense drama of this opera.

Behrens, who plays the role of Marie, sings the score, which is extremely difficult for her to sing, accurately and with rich emotion, and is wonderful as she sings her extremely difficult role perfectly.

Even more impressive is Tsednik's role as the Captain, who uses a wide range of vocal tones to expose the snobbery of the role and also creates some terrifying expressions.
