Introduction👩‍💻

Hey there✌️

Here is my first article and I gonna be highly happy to introduce myself as your English Tutor.👩‍🏫

But let me tell you a little about my experience:

  • I’m the biggest movies bug🐞 so here you may meet with the reviews on specific films (and songs)🎶

  • Visited more than 10 countries (even lived in some of them) + articles about countries (especially English speaking ones)

  • 6 years of tutoring with different types and ages of students (gonna talk about psychology of languages🇬🇧)

  • A Japanese zealot🤪

To cut it short, you’ve got a piece of information about me and that’s great.

And let’s get down to “How to say “hello” in English?

  • Firstly say “Hello - こんにちは” or next phrases:

       - Greetings!
       - Hi!
       - Hey (there)!
       - Good morning!🌞/ Good afternoon (day)!🌝/ Good evening!🌛/ Good night!🌘 (depends on time)
       - Howdy! (shorten form of “How do you do?”)
       - Yo!😎 (the UK slang)
       - Salute! (borrowing from French🇫🇷)
       - What-s-up? (for sure an American slang)

But if you don’t care about greeting a person and really hurry to start the conversation (mostly people do like that), you may start speaking with the question “How are you? - 元気ですか?” or:
(All questions below have got the same translation like “元気ですか”)

       👨‍✈️Formal:
        - How do you do?
        - How is it going? / How are you doing?
        - How is your life?
        - Are you well?
         - How’s things?
         - How have you been (doing)?

        👩‍🎤Informal:
         - What's going on?
         - What's new?
         - What's up?
         - Whassup?
         - What are you up to?

But when should we use formal and informal phrases?

The answer is: It’s up to you. You should say how you feel. If the situation allows you to feel comfort why can’t we use both variatns?

For instance, a couple days ago there was a formal meeting with Omusubi channel  community and I had no idea how to speak and how to behave but after me speaking with my Japanese collegues I realised that it’s looks like so friendly meeting so I could say even “What’s up?🤓”

And just remember: English isn’t something strange and unrecognizable thing, it’s something that you need to feel letting go through your life.
So I’m here just to show you how easy learning languages can be.

Thanks for reading💕
Your Katie👩‍🎤
