Episode 47 コロナに罹った時の話

Introduction
Hello, welcome to my English learning podcast. Today's episode is about the Coronavirus. Recently, I came down with Coronavirus a week ago, and it was absolutely disastrous. So, I'm going to share my experience with you.

Question1 :
What were your symptoms and how did you deal with the sickness?

 Answer1:
Well, the most significant symptom was a sore throat. I've never had such a horrendous sore throat in my life. It felt like there was a monster in my throat playing tricks with knives or something. Regarding the fever, it reached 38.5C several times. Additionally, I didn't have an appetite because the sore throat prevented me from swallowing food; it was just hard to swallow. During that time, apart from a high fever, I experienced chills and body aches, especially at night. Up until now, at the time I am recording this podcast, I still haven't got a sense of smell or taste, which makes me even less appetised. I feel like I'm going to lose weight significantly.

Question2:
What lesson did you learn from your experience?

Answer2:
Well, I felt like I finally came down with COVID-19 because I hadn't caught the Coronavirus until then, even though I lived in Tokyo, a more crowded place, even when the virus was rampant and the state of emergency was in place. It's like playing Russian Roulette, where people's fate is determined by luck. Nobody knows when you'll catch the virus.
While it's important to take precautions to prevent the virus from intruding into my body, you can't perfectly block the virus. The most important thing is to try to keep fit all the time, and it's surely better to maintain your health by doing regular exercises, having healthier dietary habits, and taking enough rest when you feel really exhausted. I believe this can help your immune system work properly and adequately. So, going the extra mile at work all the time isn't basically a good idea.

Conclusion:
Okay, let's call it a day today. I’m afraid that there’s no vocabulary section today. Speaking of health, it is said that, in Japan, May is a difficult month for some people. This is because since April, when people start new roles at work or school, they significantly try to fit into the new environments, so they tend to work excessively hard without any breaks or rest, which can cause your physical and mental balance to go wrong, So, just take it easy and don't work too hard. Thank you for listening." Until next time!
