The Cost of Living

Hello guys.

Yesterday was a relaxing day off for me.

Yesterday morning, I watched Frozen2 in English.
My family likes the Frozen series and Disney films.
Recently, they are obsessed with Pokemon and Pretty Cure.
When my daughters are older, I’d like to play Pokemon cards with them. lol

And then I went and ate a McDonald’s sandwich.
I was hoping to find a difference between Mcdonald’s in the U.S. and in Japan, but couldn’t.
It was a little surprising..

I’ll compare prices since I visited Mcdonald’s in the U.S..
By the way, I ordered a Big Mac Meal, Double Cheeseburger and McNuggets.

The following are prices for each item.
(On November 13, the exchange-rate of 1 US dollar is 158.4 yen. )

in the U.S.
Big Mac Meal $8.79(¥1334.67)
Double Cheeseburger $3.19(¥484.37)
McNuggets 6pieces $3.29(¥499.55)
Tax $1.26(¥191.32)

Total $16.53(¥2,509.92)

In Japan
Big Mac Meal ¥750
Double Cheeseburger ¥400
McNuggets 6pieces ¥288
Tax ¥115
Total ¥1,553

(In Japan, 5 pieces McNuggets is 240 yen, which would make 6pieces Nuggets 288yen)

Another example is the higher quality supermarket WHOLE FOODS, which in Japan would be like SEIJOH ISHII.

Plain Yogurt 32OZ 907g $4.99(¥757.68)
Banana 1 bunch $1.60(¥242.94)
Coffee 12 capsules $8.99(¥1365.04)
Bath Tissue 6 rolls $4.99 (¥757.68)

These are real differences between the U.S. and Japan.
What do you think?

Being Japanese, I feel like living my daily life at an amusement park financially.
However, regardless of the money, I’m enjoying every day like being in an amusement park.

My time left is short, so I’ll keep trying new things and take my experiences back to Japan.

Hunter and Julian told me the story of how they came to work at Tread Athletics.
I was simply moved by their stories.

I’d love to talk with them (and others) about a variety of topics.
So I’ll aim at becoming a better speaker in English than I am now.

Vamos!
