Lou left the town where his ex-girlfriend was and silently swam in the sea;He wanted to swim so badly that he stopped sleeping and swam.
A large boat with music playing in the background appeared in front of Lou.A cat fell from the boat.Lou panicked and put the cat on his back.The cat's owner called Lou from the boat.
The cat's owner called out from the boat, “Oooooh, thank you! Get on the boat!”
A ladder came down from the boat and wrapped around Lou's body.The owner took the soaking wet cat and Lou to the bathroom and gently washed them.As he was being poured warm water over them, Lou thanked his owner.
“I'm Lou, thank you, that feels good.”The owner did not respond.
Instead, the cat replied, “He doesn't understand your words.I'm Ruby, nice to meet you.Thank you for saving me. I was playing and I jumped into the sea.”Ruby said, proudly licking her fluffy white fur as her owner blew warm air on her.
Her owner took them into a large room and walked them out at a leisurely pace.In the center of the room was a glittering cage.
“What a gorgeous cage, What do you put in it?”Lou said.
“It's me.My owner is going to put me in this glittering cage and sell me to someone.”
“Hmm, it looks cramped. Isn't it too small?”
“No, it's too small.I can't stretch well, and there are places where I can't reach to groom myself.But that's okay. I'm beautiful, and my owner thought I'd look my best.”
“But it's small, isn't it?”
“It's fine, it's luxurious and it looks magnificent.”
“Hmmm, isn't it sad that your owner sold you to someone?”
“There are those in this world who can decide their own happiness and those who can't.I just know that I am the latter.I want to be treated like a treasure where I am wanted.That's my idea of happiness. That's all.What about you? Why were you swimming in the ocean?”Ruby turned her bright red eyes to Lou and asked, disinterestedly, “I'm on my way back to Snow Island.”
“Then you can get off at the next stop.”Ruby curled up in her luxurious cage and went to sleep, as if she were done talking.
That day,Lou thought about happiness.
