This is my intuition. The upcoming decentralization, distribution, and democratization drove by blockchain technology will change our fight against climate change. Naomi Klein said in her book "This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs The Climate":

“It is a civilizational wake-up call. A powerful message—spoken in the language of fires, floods, droughts, and extinctions—telling us that we need an entirely new economic model and a new way of sharing this planet.”

Yes. We need to completely transform our economy, which is now controlled by Capitalism, to save the planet. But how? In the book, Klein claimed that we need to organize a massive social movement for climate action that fights for radical changes in the economic system, which all of us know that very hard to bring about.

But how lucky we are. Now we have a new radical and disruptive technological support (weapon) for this fight: Blockchain. Along with renewable energy, micro-grid, electricity storage, which are all getting cheaper and underpinning the distribution of energy production, the blockchain, I now feel, will fundamentally change our old economy through empowering local communities and individuals by conferring them production capabilities for almost everything including electricity.

This is also in line with Klein's view of "embedded in interdependence rather than hyper-individualism, reciprocity rather than dominance, and cooperation rather than hierarchy ".

Therefore, we must seek this opportunity to transform our economy by leveraging new disruptive technologies, which are meant to be true decentralization, distribution, and democratization. The massive capital is now flowing into the blockchain. This might be the sign that a lot of vested interests now feel a sense of crisis and are trying to secure their benefits, which, I believe, will backfire them eventually.
