「benign」は辞書には「優しい、良性の」と書いてあり、尾形さん訳は

んー難しい。

誰が？ この歌の視点人物が。
また、so many peopleを前は「みんなそう」にしちゃってたんですが、視点の人が確認した範囲のたくさんの人たち、という旨が伝わりづらそうなので変えました。

最初は「そんなの見たくない」にしたんですが、「かわいそうに」に変えました。「オゥー、トゥーバッド・・」かわいそうにー、とか言いますよね。それってことで。

長い髪の毛は工場で働く際には危険であるとの宣伝写真のモデルを務めた。
この現象をしかと歌いこんでいますね。
歌詞サイトGeniusに寄せられている注釈によれば、1944年から指令により髪をピン留めするようになったとのこと。
そしてそこから、あまりヒットには恵まれなかったとか。
ちなみにアルバムのジャケットの女性も右目が隠れていて、この面影を映しているようです（髪はブロンドじゃないけど）。

ということで私の訳はこの「髪引っ張り込まれ事件」に、よりフォーカスすることにしました。
尾形さんは ache を「つらい思い」、caught は、ヴェロニカ・レイクに憧れてその髪型にすること、put on the brakeは「気を引き締めろ」というふうに取っていますが、
私はどれも、機械にガリガリやられている関連にします。

というタイトルとサビのフレーズですが、
これが 's を使っているため、
モナリザの梱包（名詞）とも、

そして本題ですが、この歌の主人公は勘違いをしているのか？

lay off は「解雇」というほかに、構わない、ほっとく、があります。こっちだった。解雇はこの穏やかな歌に合わんわね。
YouTubeのコメント。コロナ後初のアルバムだからか、よく晴れた日に・仲間と・何も予定を決めず・外へ出る・・・泣けてくる、という旨がありました。なるほどねえ。
アルバムの締めでもいい感じの穏やかな１曲ですが、まだ３曲のこっております。

鼻つまみものの歌、追手からの大冒険逃避行、穏やかなゾーンに入って、晴れた日に何の予定も立てずに過ごし、彼氏としてのポジションを守り、人生の後輩への応援歌を送り、そして人生を共にした相手とのお別れ・・・・・・。
