今回は"college"と"university"の違いについて
ネイティブスピーカーの方に聞いてみました！

どちらも「大学」と訳され、
"college"と付く大学もあれば
"university"と付く大学もあり
この違いはなんなんだ…と1度は疑問に思ったことがあるのではないでしょうか🤔

🇺🇸アメリカ人の回答：少し質が高い?!

I’d say university is slightly higher quality of learning than just college. Both are schooling after high school though. 

"university"は単なる"college"よりも学びの質が少し高いと思います。どちらも高校卒業後に通います。

🇺🇸アメリカ人の回答②：ほとんど同じ意味だけど…

They mean the same thing mostly. University is used for a higher tier college. As college is more general term for higher education 

それらはほとんど同じことを意味します。 University は上位の大学に使用されます。カレッジは高等教育のより一般的な用語であるため。

They’re used interchangeably but sometimes university is a larger school, more prestigious. 

これらは同じ意味で使用されますが、"university"がより大規模で名門の学校である場合もあります。

🇬🇧イギリス人の回答：イギリス英語では違う!!

It's different in British English!
In British English:
College/Sixth form = 16-18. (You study 3 or 4 topics for 2 years for your 'A Level exams', which you need to get into a good university).
University = 18+, you go there after college/sixth form

イギリス英語では違うんです！
イギリス英語では:
college/第6フォーム = 16-18歳。 （良い大学に入学するために必要な「A レベル試験」のために 2 年間、3 つまたは 4 つのトピックを勉強します）。
university = 18 歳以上、大学/第 6 フォームの後にそこに進学します

🇬🇧イギリス人の回答②：universityに行くためのcollege

In England we go to university (18+) to study for a degree which is the highest level of education. College is for A-levels which are needed to get into university in most cases.

イギリスでは最高レベルの教育である学位を得るために"university"（18歳以上）に通います。"college"は、ほとんどの場合、"university"に入学するために必要な A レベルを対象としています。
