so you can see how massive 10 trillion yen is.Of course, the money ATM Kishida is paying is not his pocket money but our tax money.

The following is from a conversation between Mr. Shimada Yoichi and Ms. Iiyama Akari. The book, released on February 1st, became a bestseller and is scheduled to be reprinted.
It is a must-read, not only for the people of Japan but for people all over the world.
Preamble omitted.
Shimada.
I believe that building a relationship of trust with U.S. conservatives is the diplomatic activity that best serves the national interest.
It sounds good to say "balanced diplomacy," but in reality, it is often "all-round down-on-his knees diplomacy" or "all-round up-and-down diplomacy.
Iiyama
In the end, Mr. Kishida will become Biden's ATM.
He has already said Japan will give the Palestinian Interim Authority money.
Shimada.
That was an additional 10 billion yen in aid.
It is a typical waste of money.
Iiyama.
I don't think they are thinking strategically; instead, they want to provide the money so they don't have to deal with the various accusations.
Right now, in the U.S., the Republicans have the majority in the House of Representatives, and there are many hardliners in the Republican party.
The U.S. is going to provide Israel with Iron Dome replacement interceptor missiles, and they are going to budget for that.
Conversely, humanitarian aid for Gaza will be intercepted by Hamas, so let's not budget for that.
The Republicans objected, and so it went.
Biden and others will likely say, "Kishida, you can take some of that money out."
It is a very easy-to-use ATM.
Shimada.
Regarding the additional aid to Ukraine, the U.S. side is moving toward saying, "Kishida, we will invite you to Washington as a state guest and prepare a speech to Congress, so you should provide the U.S. portion as well."
This one is on the scale of 5 to 10 trillion yen.
Incidentally, Japan's total national tax revenue is about 70 trillion yen in FY2023, so you can see how massive 10 trillion yen is.
Of course, the money ATM Kishida is paying is not his pocket money but our tax money.
He has also repeatedly given "Palestinian aid money" to UN agencies. Basically, no other organization is as ill-conceived and irresponsible as the UN.
Iiyama.
During the Trump administration, Trump withdrew from UNESCO.
A significant reason for this is the Palestinian issue.
UNESCO was paying for anti-Israel education or giving Palestinian-sounding names to historical spots around Jerusalem etc., etc.
Therefore, they withdrew from UNESCO because they could not give American taxpayers money to such a place.
It, too, was not appropriately explained in the Japanese media.
