Ministry of Education, Teach the Japanese People about "Fighting"…Education that erases the pride of a people is the first step toward "destruction."

The following is from an article by Ms. Kaori Arimoto, which appeared in the February 1 issue of the "Conservative Party of Japan,'' titled "MEXT, Teach the Japanese People to 'Fight'" on p. 256.
It is a must-read not only for the Japanese people but for people worldwide.

Ministry of Education, Teach the Japanese People about "Fighting"
The Russian Navy's large cruiser, "Moscow," of about 12,500 tons, sank off the coast of the Black Sea under attack by Ukrainian forces.
According to the Wall Street Journal, this is the first time that the flagship of the Russian fleet has been sunk in war since 1905 when the Allied Fleet of Japan sank the Baltic Fleet's flagship in the Battle of the Sea of Japan during the Russo-Japanese War.
However, many Japanese still need a clear idea of what happened.
It must better teach the history of Japan's victory in the Russo-Japanese War and the defeat of the Baltic Fleet.
Even today, a significant number of human blood is spilled every day in Ukraine.
Even if their lives are spared, they are kidnapped and forced to go to faraway places, and women and children are humiliated.
Although we are not in a situation to rejoice over the results of the battle of the Black Sea, there is no doubt that this is a historic achievement for the Ukrainian military.
It will further boost morale.
What about the Russian side?
The "Moscow" had a crew of 500, many of whom are likely to have died.
In addition to the substantial losses, the sinking of a command ship bearing the name of the country's capital will inevitably dampen morale.
One would hope that a mood of disenchantment would prevail among the Russian people, who say they support the war Putin started, and that they would call for a quick end to the war. Still, we need to find out how much information is being shared, and this may be an unreasonable expectation.
At any rate, this must have had a substantial impact on Putin, but we cannot expect him to soften up in the future.
There are even indications that he may further intensify his aggression through large-scale mobilization and other means.
In fact, immediately after Russia's invasion of Ukraine began, Mr. Naoki Hyakuta, author of the national bestseller "The Eternal O" and a business associate of mine, spoke of a certain "premonition."
"When war breaks out, the morale of the military and the people will be crucial, as well as the weapons and equipment they have. The high morale of the Ukrainian people and the army may work miracles, which may be the Russo-Japanese War of the 21st century."
Although he is not optimistic about the current war situation, Mr. Hyakuta's hunch is somewhat correct.
For the past two months, most of the media headlines have been dominated by news about the situation in Ukraine.
With so much tragic information and images being broadcast, it is not surprising that the number of people who hate wars of aggression has increased and that many people have become more firmly convinced that war is wrong.
On the other hand, there are also voices on the Internet.
"I used to make fun of people who fought for their country, thinking they were right-wingers," said one person. Seeing the people of Ukraine fighting so desperately to protect their country changed my mind."
Fighting for one's family, one's country, and one's national dignity.
There are definitely people who have awakened to the preciousness of this.
Why don't many Japanese people know the preciousness of fighting?
Many postwar Japanese have been inculcated with a masochistic view of history and an underdog mentality, and they do not even know the value of their own country, Japan let alone the preciousness of fighting.
They do not know that Japan is the country with the most extended history in the world and that our ancestors fought bravely against foreign enemies to protect our country for 2000 years.
Most junior high school social studies textbooks do not mention the "Toi invasion" during the Heian period.
It was a major national crisis in which the Jurchen people invaded Japan from across the sea.
With the Imperial Court losing its ability to be a party to national defense, his nephew Takaie Fujiwara was hated by Fujiwara Michinaga.
He was demoted to Dazaifu because he was known as "Sagana-mono'' (an unmanageable person) and led a group of Kyushu warriors to defeat them.
That is the historical fact.
The story of this significant victory for the Japanese people and the national hero's name, Fujiwara no Takaie, are largely unknown today.
History textbooks also distort the story of Hojo Tokimune and the Kamakura Samurai, who fought off two invasions by the Mongol Empire, the most powerful empire in the world at the time.
Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who issued the Bateren Edict, outraged by the Jesuit missionaries who sold Japanese women and children as slaves to Europe, is also taught as a "religious suppressor" in Japanese history education.
I want to introduce a tweet (X) from Ambassador Timraz Rezhava of the Republic of Georgia to Japan.
"The sinking of the Russian flagship is the first since the Russo-Japanese War, but the Russian 'Varyag,' who died in the Russo-Japanese War, is well known in Georgia. The activities of Heihachiro Togo and Iwao Oyama were widely applauded in Georgia at the time."
Japan's victory in the Russo-Japanese War had a tremendous impact on the world.
In particular, how much courage did it give to the people of the conquered countries?
Now we are miserable that we have to learn it from foreigners.
Education that erases the pride of a people is the first step toward "destruction."
