The history of Kogin Embroidery goes back nearly 300 years ago.It was first started by female farmers in  the Tsugaru region when all they could afford to wear in frigid winter was hemp clothes.To make the clothes warmer and stronger for her family and for herself,they started stitch work and this is what is called the "Tsugaru Kogin Embroidery"today.
