Freelance Traveler Finds Freedom Monthly travel plan

After retiring, I've become someone who can travel anytime.
Since resigning from a regular company in May 2023 to host a NounsDAO event, I've been living without a plan. Quitting my full-time job freed up my time, allowing me to travel to various places both domestically and internationally from last year to this year. Most recently, I spent 4 nights and 5 days in Bali. During my time as a company employee, travel seemed like a special preparation and a hassle, and I felt like I lost many opportunities to travel.
Becoming suddenly unemployed last year gave me the time to attend events and visit places whenever I wanted. What I've realized after quitting is that flights can be incredibly cheap when you're free. As a regular employee, it was difficult to book flights, especially on weekends and holidays, and they were expensive. The long holidays in May, the Bon festival, and New Year's were my only chances for long trips, but prices during these times were nearly triple the off-peak periods, and reservations had to be made months in advance.

Before I knew it, I had become a freelancer.
I've mostly realized my vague dream of a nomadic work style. I had always admired business trips as an employee but never had the opportunity to go on one. My desire to travel freely to places I like whenever I want has easily come true. Becoming suddenly unemployed and having free time allowed me to turn my hobby of blogging into a job by regularly posting articles for Crypto Learning Club, receive support for Nouns-related exhibits (thank you, TT), earn a reward by helping with the work of AlpsDAO, an overseas DAO, and receive compensation for DAO work from pNounsDAO. With the support of those around me, I was able to smoothly transition to a "freelance" way of working.
Of course, I am in a privileged situation with a partner and not having to work full-time. Breaking free from the mysterious fixed concept that I had to be a company employee, I realized after quitting that unnecessary expenses decreased and I wasn't in much trouble. In fact, I spent more mysteriously when I was working full-time, so I think you never know until you try.

Bali was great!
About this trip to Bali: Round-trip ticket: 65,000 yen (New Chitose - Malaysia - Bali) Hotel: 15,000 yen for 4 nights (3,500 yen per day split by two people, with breakfast) Meals & transportation: 15,000 yen (about 3,000 yen per day for 5 days) Souvenirs: 5,000 yen I was able to travel for about 100,000 yen in total. I used to love going to Hawaii often, but now with the yen weakening, it would cost 300,000 to 400,000 yen even if I saved money. However, Bali is much cheaper for hotels, meals, and transportation, making it affordable for a family trip for the cost of one person going to Hawaii. Bali is safe for solo travelers, friends, and families alike. A visa is required for Indonesia, which can be obtained online.

Staying in a 1,500 yen per night accommodation with three vertical floors (with breakfast). I wonder why it's so cheap.
Ganga Hotel was comfortable despite being cheap! (They even have a pool) It was very clean.

Getting used to Bali, I also used motorbike taxis. Cheap taxis are even cheaper, with most rides under 200 yen (within 30 minutes).

As someone who loves interiors, I enjoyed looking around. The indoor plaster and dark trim make it easy to match furniture. I saw many furniture stores but didn't look because I would want to buy.

Aiming to be a nomad, it was fun to prepare the tools needed to work locally (though I didn't work that much, sweat). For this trip, I used a comparison site to find the cheapest and quickest LCC (Air Asia) for travel.LCCs have a baggage weight limit of 7 kg (overweight costs +28,000 yen, which I definitely didn't want to pay). I bought a carry-on bag in advance, but it weighed 2 kg, making it difficult to bring a PC and enough clothes. By switching the PC to a tablet (-1 kg) and minimizing clothes, I changed from the carry-on to a parachute material bag (-1.5 kg), making my total luggage 6 kg. However, my hand luggage was not checked for weight at all, both ways! A shoulder bag made it very easy without needing to check in baggage. I want to make my luggage even lighter for my next trip. Air Asia's in-flight meals are sold separately. The cafe menu is extensive, and the crew shakes and makes the drinks on the spot! I got hooked on an iced drink with coconut water and coffee! This year, like last year, I plan to travel to various places domestically and internationally once a month on a whim.
