HLAB サマースクール 2021が終わり早くも半年が経ちました。
8月13日から8月20日にかけて行われたHLABサマースクール 2021には、約230名の高校生が参加してくれました。オンラインやハイブリッドなど様々な形態で開催されたサマースクール。
それぞれの地域の一日の様子をnoteにて地域ごとにまとめてみました。

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.1】

本日より、HLAB サマースクール 2021（HLAB GUNMA）が始まりました。
今年はこれまでサマースクールを開催してきた東京・長野県小布施町・徳島県牟岐町・宮城県女川町のほか、新たに群馬県中之条町が加わり、全国計5地域を舞台とするサマースクールを展開しました。今年HLAB GUNMAは、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大を受け、全日程をオンラインで実施することとなりました。
本日最初の日程の開会式では、群馬県知事の山本一太様からご挨拶を頂戴し、群馬地域委員長からもご挨拶をしました。また、滞在予定地だった中之条町と中継をつなぎ、現地からも中之条町代表者様からお言葉をいただいたことで、メンター・参加者のこれから始まる７日間のサマースクールへの気持ちが強まる様子が見られました。開会式終了後は、緊張をほぐすための「アイスブレイク」や、「自己分析ワークショップ」、「メンターフリーインタラクション」、そして1日を振り返る「リフレクション」などDAY1の一連のプログラムが実施されました。初日ということもあり、慣れない環境や新しい人との交わりに戸惑う参加者の様子も見られましたが、１日のプログラムを終える頃には、初めより少し表情が柔らかくなった印象があり、メンター一同も安心しました。
HLAB Summer School 2021(HLAB GUNMA) has started today. This year, in addition to Tokyo, Obuse Town in Nagano Prefecture, Muki Town in Tokushima Prefecture, and Onagawa Town in Miyagi Prefecture, where summer schools have been held in the past, Nakanojo Town in Gunma Prefecture was newly added to the program, making five regions across Japan the stage for the summer school. At the opening ceremony which was held online, the governor of Gunma Prefecture and the chair gave speeches as well as connecting to the town of Nakanojo via a live broadcast and received words from the people involved in Nakanojo. After the opening ceremony, we had an icebreaker activity to get to know each other better and a self-analysis workshop to reflect on oneself. We also enjoyed mentor free interaction time in which the high-schoolers have the chance to get all kinds of inspirations from mentors with various backgrounds. At the end of the day, we held time to briefly reflect on Day 1, giving us the opportunities to organize our thoughts and what we have experienced throughout the day.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.2】

サマースクール（HLAB GUNMA）2日目は、任意参加の企画である「チャレンジタイム」から始まりました。今まで読めていなかった本を読んでみたり、ヨガをしてみたり、それぞれがやってみたいと思ったことにチャレンジしました。英語での少人数授業である「セミナー」は、今日が初日だったこともあり、英語での慣れない授業に高校生参加者は苦戦しているようでした。それでも、自分の思いや考えを一生懸命伝えようとする姿が見られました。「自己分析1」の中では、自身の自身を構成する要素を書き出したり、過去の経験を共有することで、参加者同士が更に打ち解けるきっかけとなりました。「フリーインタラクションは」、社会で活躍するゲストやメンターとの自由で相互的な交流の場です。個性豊かなゲストの方々が、自分の好きなことを追求する姿勢に参加者だけでなく、メンターも刺激を受けました。参加者も積極的に質問をしたり、学んだことを全体で発表していました。1日を振り返る「リフレクション」は２日目ということもあり、昨日よりもさらに活発になったように思われました。明日はオンラインではあるものの、街歩き企画などもあるので群馬を感じながら全員が絆を深めていくことができることでしょう。
The second day of the summer school (HLAB GUNMA) started with a voluntary project called challenge time. Some students tried doing yoga, and some started reading books that they have not been able to read. After that, we had English seminars in small classes for the first time in which the students seemed to have struggled with the new environment. We also had a self-analysis activity where the participants wrote out their experiences with the others and became more aware of themselves. Free interaction is a place for free and mutual exchange with guests and mentors who are active in society. I was stimulated by the way the guests with rich personalities pursued their favorite things. Participants actively asked questions and presented what they had learned to the whole group. At the end of the day, we had time to reflect on the day.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.3】

サマースクール（HLAB GUNMA）3日目も、任意参加の企画であるチャレンジタイムから始まりました。2日目と同様に午前中は英語での「セミナー」が行われました。メンターが大学で学んでいる専攻の内容を噛み砕いてよりわかりやすく高校生に説明する中で、初日よりも積極的に発言したり質問する高校生参加者の姿が印象的でした。インテラクティブになり始めたセミナーの雰囲気を見て、残りのサマースクールを通して参加者の様子がどの様に変化していくのかより楽しみになりました。午後の企画では「Explore中之条」と題した地域連携企画が行われ、現地にいるメンターと中継を繋ぎ、中之条町の魅力を最大限に伝えてもらいました。さらに、「地域独占インタビュー」の中では中之条町でご活躍されている村上久美子様をゲストとしてお迎えしました。村上様が取り組んでいらっしゃる地方移住や古民家移住、古民家改修についてご紹介をいただいた上で、地方を活動の拠点とすることの魅力や、同時に生まれる苦悩についてお話していただきました。1日を振り返るリフレクションでは、ハウスメンバー同士でプライベートな話に踏み込んだことでさらに距離感が縮まるきっかけとなりました。
The third day of the summer school (HLAB GUNMA) also started with a voluntary project called challenge time. After that, we had English seminars in small classes. High school students seemed to be more engaged and actively speaking in classes. The seminar became more interactive as participants felt comfortable asking in English. In the afternoon, "Explore Nakanojo" was held, where we relayed through zoom with the host town Nakanojo Town, to learn more about the local areas of the host town. In addition, Ms. Kumiko Murakami, who is active in Nakanojo Town, was invited as a guest from Nakanojo. At the end of the day, during the reflection session, each House member had a chance to talk about their personal stories, which helped them to get closer to each other.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.4】

サマースクール（HLAB GUNMA）4日目のテーマは「自分を知る」です。今日もこれまでと同様にチャレンジタイムからスタートしました。朝から気持ちをリフレッシュさせて、それぞれが自分のチャレンジに取り組みました。「アカデミック企画」が本日最初の企画として行われ、高校生がより豊富な進路選択肢の例を知ることのできる機会が設けられました。様々な国で異なる学問分野を勉強するメンターたちによる進路相談の場では、高校生参加者がメンターと進路について真剣に話し合う姿が印象的でした。また、参加者が本音を包み隠さず自由に質問ができるよう、メンター一同努めました。「自己分析ワークショップ」では、メンターが「高校生の時に知っておきたかった事」をテーマにそれぞれが講座開きました。少人数グループに分かれ、日常にある何気ない疑問や戸惑いについて真剣に話し合った事で、参加者にとって今まで意識していなかった問いに気づくきっかけとなりました。1日の締めくくりとして行われた「リフレクション」は、ここまでの前半期間を一度立ち止まって振り返り、これから残りの3日間をどのように過ごすか考える時間となりました。
The theme for the fourth day of the summer school (HLAB GUNMA) was "Know Yourself". Again, we started the day off with “challenge time”. After refreshing their minds, the students tackled their own challenges. The next event was the "Academic Project," where high school students were given the opportunity to learn more about various career options available to them. Mentors from different countries studying different academic fields were available for career counseling, and it was impressive to see the high school students discussing their career with their mentors. The mentors also made an effort to allow the high school students to ask questions freely without any hesitation. In the self-analysis workshop, each mentor gave a lecture on "What I wish I had known when I was in high school". The participants were divided into small groups and had a chance to question doubts and confusions in their daily lives, which helped them to realize questions that they had not been aware of before. It was a valuable time to reflect on the first part of summer school and how to spend the remaining three days.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.5】

サマースクール（HLAB GUNMA）4日目のテーマは「殻を破る」です。今日もこれまでと同様にチャレンジタイムからスタートしました。午前中には３回目のセミナーが行われ、高校生参加者同士で質問を投げかけあったりと、打ち解けた雰囲気が感じられました。また、積極的に自身の意見や経験を共有する姿からは、セミナーの場が高校生参加者たちにとって居心地の良い場所になってきていることを嬉しく感じました。セミナーは残り1回となりましたが、参加者それぞれが４回のセミナーを経て達成感や満足感を得られる時間になるよう、メンター一同努めていきたいと思います。午後には、業界の第一線で活躍されている方のお話を聞き、自分の人生について改めて考える「フォーラム」がありました。群馬県副知事の宇留賀敬一様にご講演いただき、普段はお聞きすることのできないような貴重なお話を伺ったことで高校生が「自分自身が何をしたいのか」を見つめなおす上で新たな視点を得る機会となったと思います。その後の「メンターフリーインタラクション」では、参加者の過去の経験や気持ちの変化をメンターと一対一になって深掘りすることで、さらに自分自身を知り進路について真剣に考えるきっかけとなりました。1日を振り返るリフレクションでは、参加者各自が持ち寄ったテーマをもとにディスカッションを行い、それぞれのテーマについて深めながら自分自身を見つめる機会となりました。
The theme for the fourth day of the summer school (HLAB GUNMA) was "Break out of your shell". In the morning, the third seminar was held, and the high school students asked questions to each other. The way they proactively shared their opinions and experiences showed that the seminar is becoming a comfortable place for the high school students. There was only one seminar left, but all the mentors renewed their commitment to make the seminar a time where each participant could feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction after ending four sessions. In the afternoon, we had a forum where we listened to stories of people who are already working and shared about their own lives. Mr. Keiichi Uruga, the Vice Governor of Gunma Prefecture, gave a lecture,which provided a valuable opportunity for the high school students to gain a new perspective on what they want to do in the future. During the free interaction, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about themselves and think deeply about their career paths through one-on-one discussions with mentors reflecting about their past experiences. In the reflection session, each participant had an opportunity to reflect on the day's activities and to deepen their understanding of each theme.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.6】

「将来に目を向ける」を目標にサマースクール（HLAB GUNMA）6日目がスタートしました。最後の日程の「セミナー」では、初日にはほとんど英語を使って授業に参加することができていなかった参加者も、自分の思いや経験を英語で一生懸命共有しようと挑戦する姿が見られました。4日間のセミナーを通して、参加者は自分の苦手な分野に向き合い、殻を破る経験ができたかと思います。その後の休憩時間では、このサマースクールを通して仲良くなった参加者同士で、自ら企画してラジオ放送をしていたのが印象的でした。午後にはお楽しみ企画として、ハウスごとにオリジナルのすごろくを協力して作成し遊ぶことで、よりハウス内での仲を深めました。明日はいよいよ最終日となります。何もかも異例づくしの今回のサマースクールでしたが、メンター・参加者ともに成長の多い日々を過ごしてきたかと思います。最終日もサマースクールを全員で楽しみ切り、参加者の高校生たちの７日間の成長の旅立ちを、晴れやかな気持ちで迎えたいと思います。
The sixth day of summer school (HLAB GUNMA) started with the goal of "looking to the future". In the last seminar session, the participants, who had not been able to participate in the classes in English on the first day, tried their best to share their thoughts and experiences in English. During the break time after the seminar, we had a chance to talk about learning experiences from the seminar. We were impressed to see that some participants organized their own virtual radio show during the break. In the afternoon, as a fun activity, each house worked together to create their own original sugoroku (Japanese backgammon) game, which was a great opportunity for the participants to get to know each other better. This summer school has been full of unusual events, but we believe that both the mentors and the participants have learned much during this short period of time. We hope that all of us will enjoy the summer school as much as possible on the last day, and that all the high school students will exit the program feeling refreshed after seven days of growth.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.7】

サマースクール（HLAB GUNMA）も気づけば最終日となりました。「羽ばたく」をテーマに掲げ、HLABの非日常から日常に戻りながらも、同時にこの場で築いたコミュニティはこの先も続くことを実感した1日となりました。サマースクール最後となる「自己分析ワークショップ」では、一年後の自分を想像してその一年を振り返ることを通じて、自分の理想の未来を描きました。7日間で学んできたことを自分のものにする貴重な時間となったのではないでしょうか。高校生参加者が、ありのままの自分に自信を持つきっかけを見つけ、明日からの自分にプラスに働く収穫がこのサマースクールを通して得られたことを切に願います。その後の「ハウスタイム」では、メンター・参加者が互いへの想いを伝える濃い時間となり、ちらほらと涙を流す姿も見られました。閉会式では、参加者それぞれがサマースクールを通して感じたことや自分の中での変化を共有し、最後には清々しい笑顔でお互いを見送りました。
The last day of the summer school (HLAB GUNMA) which the theme was "departing with new wings". The participants and mentors spent the day cherishing every moment with the awareness of returning to the daily life from the extraordinary life of HLAB, while at the same time realizing that the community built here will continue even after. In the self-analysis workshop, which was the last session of the summer school, the participants imagined themselves one year from now. We hope that the participants were able to find an opportunity to gain confidence in themselves, even if only a little, and continue the way after the summer school ends. For the very last program, the mentors and participants spent special time to share their thoughts and feelings with each other, and a few tears were shed here and there. At the closing ceremony, each participant shared what they felt and how they changed during the summer school, and at the end of the ceremony, they sent off each other with a fresh smile.
