「FightHPV」をプレイしてみた②
先日からご紹介している「FightHPV」。FightHPVとは、子宮頸がんの知識を深め、がんに対する行動を起こすことを目的に開発された無料の教育ゲームアプリです🎮（第一回目を読んでいない方は→こちら）
今回はその2回目、エピソード２の英字テキストを部分的に解説いたします！
エピソード２「HPV and low-risk HPV」
エピソード2では子宮頸がんの原因である「HPV（ヒトパピローマウイルス）」についての説明が書かれています。
HPV is an extremely common family of viruses with more than a hundred members.
Normally, an HPV infection will not cause any health problems and most people are infected at some point in their lives.
HPVは100種類以上存在する、よく見られるウイルスのことです。
HPVに感染しても通常は健康に影響なく、多くの方が一生のうちにどこかで感染します。
Only around 40 of all the different HPV types are transmitted through sexual contact, but they can infect the epithelial cells in the genitals and anus quite easily.
（100種のHPVのうち）約40種類のみが性交渉によって運ばれますが、性器や肛門内にある上皮細胞に容易に感染させることができます。
Sexually transmitted HPV types fall into two categories:
High-risk HPVs, which may lead to cancer in both men and women, and low-risk HPVs, which do not cause cancer.
性交渉によって運ばれるHPVウイルスは2つにわけられます。
「高リスク型HPV」という男性、女性両方に対してがんを引き起こす可能性があるウイルスと「低リスク型HPV」というがんを引き起こさないウイルスです。
Low-risk HPV can cause skin warts on or around the genitals and anus. They have a marginal ability to cause cancer, hence the name “low-risk”.
低リスク型HPVは性器や肛門の周りにイボをつくることができますが、がんを引き起こすには限界があるゆえに”低リスク”と付けられています。
HPV vaccination prevent infection with HPV types 6 and 11, which cause 90% of genital warts.
HPVのワクチンで、HPV6型や11型（→90％がイボを引き起こす）の感染を防ぐことができます。
HPV can be passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms. You can develop symptoms years after being infected, making it hard to know when you first became infected.
HPVは感染しても症状が見られないため、最初に感染しても気づかず、症状が進行する可能性があります。
まとめ
HPV（ヒトパピローマウイルス）はごくありふれたウイルスで、ほとんどの人は感染する可能性があります。
性交渉によって感染するHPVには「高リスク型HPV」と「低リスク型HPV」がありますが、「低リスク型HPV」の方はイボをつくるウイルスです。
子宮頸がんワクチンを接種するとそのイボをつくるウイルス（HPV6型や11型）の感染を防ぐことができます。
HPVは初期の段階では症状が見られないため、症状が進行しないうちの早期発見が重要です。
