Japan’s Biggest Bank, SMBC Group To Develop Web3 and NFT Projects

Japanese Banking giant Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMBC group) which has $2.1 trillion in assets, announced a partnership with blockchain startup HashPort to develop NFTs and Web3 projects.

HashPort and SMBC Group want to create a "token business lab" to experiment with token companies such as NFTs.

Not only the NFTs Japan is also ready to legally frame the stablecoin.

The previous month Japan parliament passed a law saying the legal status of stablecoins, describing them as digital coins that must be pegged to yen or another fiat currency, allowing holders to redeem them at face value.

Web3 Startup Aptos Raises $150M From FTX Ventures, Jump Crypto

Aptos lab, a California-based web3 startup founded by an ex-employee of Meta (previously Facebook) raised $150 million in series A, led by FTX Ventures and Jump Crypto.

The Startup doubled its valuation with this fundraising.

The round comes just four months after Tiger Global, Coinbase Ventures, and FTX Ventures invested $200 million in the startup.

Aptos is developing a Layer 1 system blockchain, which means it will exist independently of Ethereum or another blockchain. The company intends to expand on core components of the Diem blockchain and its smart contract language Stablecoin Meta's project, which was shut down earlier this year.
