From the hospital window

I took my mother to the hospital for her surgery. The other day, she felt her heart beating fast and got dazed and sick. Then she went to the doctor and checked blood and pals of the heartbeat. He recommended getting surgery to prevent heart diseases. Some of her friends also said that she should get surgery before eighty years old. And she made up her mind four days stay in the hospital finally.

Her bed was window-side, and it had a good view of the big traffic crossing. When I saw that scene, it reminds me of my wife’s death, which occurred eight months ago. My wife was found fainted in the house and carried to the same hospital by ambulance. And when I looked down from the window, I saw the emergency entrance that we entered that night.

I remembered vivid feelings of her body that were still warm after the death sentence from an emergency doctor. Her life ended all too soon. I couldn’t believe that man could die so easy. As easy as slight changes in our daily life, her death came to her life. Usual became unusual easily.

Everybody who heard the news that she passed away couldn’t understand. “About who you are talking?” Most of them said. And she must have been thinking like, “Who the hell is dead?”
