米国在住中の2005年から10年近く”Walk on the Wild Side”というタイトルで書いていたBlogのArchiveシリーズ第13弾は"Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame 2006"。最初の投稿は2006年4月5日。

先週録画してあったRock'n Roll Hall of Fame 2006を見てみた。授賞式ではBlondie, Miles Davis，Black Sabbath等と並んでLynard Skynardが受賞。当然のごとくライブでは”Sweet Home Alabama"と”Freebird"を演奏。

演奏時間は10分以上に及ぶが、それでも誰もあの曲は止められない。例の”Freebird！"のJokeもここでは冗談にはならないので、誰も言わない。観客のMetalicaやKid Rock等もここでは完全に自分達が演奏している気になっている。Ed KingとGary RossingtonのTwin Slide Guitarを見たのは初めてだ。Ronnie Van Zantの奥さんが最後にスピーチ、Tom Dowdの名前は忘れないし、孫まで紹介している。まるで親族の集まりに出ているようだ。

最後はElvis Costello率いるNew OrleansのTribute。メンバーはthe Bandの Robbie Robertson, Allen Toussaint, Buckwheat Zydeco, そしてthe Wild Magnolias。

ところでやはりSex Pistolsは出席せず。代読スピーチも”This is a fax to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. 'Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain. You're a museum. Urine is wine. We're not coming. We're not your monkeys, and so what.'" 流石です。
