This does not mean our town hall is 12 hours long.

There we go. All right. So this is a special holiday edition every week at Town Hall. We get together. We talk about what we're building and we celebrate conversations and people from the community talk about what's ahead. Answer questions from the next week. And we don't only keep it to an hour. We have a lot of exciting new product features that are going out this week. A lot of questions that we'll get to next Sunday. But for this holiday weekend, we wanted to keep it short because for a lot of people in the US they've been working really hard. They've got their family in town. We want people to hang out with their family want to hang out with their friends. We want the team to be out with their friends and community to be hanging out with their friends and family. So we thought we'd do a shorter version today. And gentle bit of time talking about Thanksgiving and and the past year. And all the stuff that we've been thankful for. So if you're here for product feature updates and announcements, I promise we'll do a good thorough one next week. But But this week's gonna be a little bit different. So one thing I wanted to say is at the end of every townhall, we always do a request for shows where we talk about what types of rooms or conversations we've been seeing that we're excited to see. See more of this week. We're going to do a request for things. So if you have something that you were thankful for, it could be clubhouse related. It could be not clubhouse related, just something in your life that you've been reflecting on that you're grateful for that you're thankful for. And and you want to share it please just send it back to him a message to ANU or to staff and over the next 10 minutes 20 minutes something like that. And if if we get some then we'll read a few out at the end. So if you're somebody who share requests for thanks please backchannel it to Ani or staff right now. Okay, so the the first thing that we want to do is just start by reading a little excerpt from from a blog post that we did this week we put together a blog post. I think it was titled just a few things that were thankful for. And the team like, like our internal team just talked a little bit about things that they're grateful for in their lives, and it was really nice, and we thought it'd be it would be nice to read from that. You know, we said some blog posts we often talked about building in public. And that doesn't just extend to talking openly about the roadmap brainstorming live in town hall. It means that a lot of our our internal team members have gotten to know and become fans and even close friends with the people who use the app every day. We often talk about how we love to hire people from the community. Are you and I are Ron I met audio when we were working on the earliest precursor to clubhouse called talk show. And we met staff from the really early days of clubhouse and the the relationships the friendships that have gotten formed for so many people on our team has been really, really life changing. And you know, townhall came from Ed in the community suggested it and so many of the things that we do come from suggestions from people in the community now that the world is starting to open up just a little bit. We've been fortunate to get out in the real world and to meet people from the community in person and it feels like it feels like we're such close friends with so many of them and we've never even met in real life. And so so the team is just really grateful for that. And we thought a good way to share things was to gather a few words from the people who who work on clubhouse day in and day out. And we don't want to keep you here for the full hour or hour and five minutes today. So we'll probably keep this whole thing to about 20 minutes or so. But we'll start with a few words from blog posts. So I'm there by person so so we picked a handful of them because we can read all of them because it would take a while so so why don't I start and then roll Han and on the on staff can can each take a turn reading some as well. Perfect. Right, I'm gonna start with Grace grace says I'm incredibly thankful for the resilience and adaptability of our children. Masks air hugs nonchalance about weekly testing. As the adults have gotten crazier that kids are all right. I'm also thankful for the laughter hot on the mic, facial recognition comedy, let's have coffee together tech news around the world. Plus anytime Patrice like he is reading or Grace geek

6:16
Alright, this is from Shelby on our marketing team. I'm thankful for quality time with my family and friends as devastating as the pandemic has been. I feel really lucky to have had so much quality time with the people I love. I temporarily moved in with my parents when my lease in NYC New York ended and and that's probably the most time I've spent with them since middle school. I'm also thankful for remote work and allows me the flexibility to be anywhere and everywhere. Last but not the least. I'm thankful for our team at clubhouse. I was admitted and admitted lead nervous to start a new job in the midst of a global pandemic. But our team continues to make it a great experience. I'm always laughing learning a ton and surrounded by people who are simply the best at what they do.

Luke, Luke, the Editor inside looks amazing. He says a very lucky and thankful person to have my wife his ultimate life partner and way out of my league. This year we welcomed our second kid under two and I could not be more thankful to be the dad of two happy and healthy little boys. This year a clubhouse has been the most exciting of my career. I will forever treasure the early days there just nine of us I love that part. I think the team we felt that talented people have joined club as long way especially the incredible back end team that makes it so much fun to show up at work each day.

9:04
All right, this one is from Parth on our analytics team. I'm thankful for the good health of my friends and family thankful for my clubhouse family the people I work with the people I have met both IRL and online and the people I've yet to meet. All right, I'm gonna read Nina's from marketing who I met first on Clubhouse. I'm grateful for my husband and my kids have supported my work as a journalist through increasingly difficult news cycles. I'm also grateful to be out of daily news and into creating solutions to some of the most critical issues facing journalism and news. It's a position I could have never imagined or seen myself in. But a dear friend I met on clubhouse sent the job posting and I thought I'd be a good fit. I'm grateful for the real friends I've made and the moments I've been I've been able to witness on this incredible platform. And now to get to work on it with such kind of smart colleagues. So many Bruins you don't get that reference apparently there's a lot of UCLA

Anu
12:31
this approves the Bruins point there

12:36
exactly.

12:38
Alright, we got to do our own tea right? Yeah,

Anu
12:41
we should. Why not?

Paul
12:43
Alright, I'll start mine later. They sound boring but like that's because I know a lot of people feel this way but health family like it's really like startups are crazy, right? They're all these ups and downs and like, it's, you know, fire drills everywhere. You've got to build so many things and so many people that that you know, neat things and that's fantastic, right? It's fantastic but as you do it, you got to you always have to keep in perspective. You know, I've got an incredible family healthy, like those are such big, big things. And I find that with startups and with life in general if you can keep if you can always remember that it just it really helps you keep things in perspective. So very grateful to have helped family. The second thing is I'm just I'm immensely grateful that I get to spend my days building this thing. This has been the most exciting thing I've ever worked on in my entire life and I love it like I love it. I can't not think about it. I work on it till I fall asleep I dream about every night and it blows my mind that that we live in a place in a world where we're people can have a job that is to build to build product like this. So I'm I'm immensely grateful I get to do that. And then the last one is the people I get to do it with on the internal side on the community side like our our internal team I'm it just blows my mind that I get to work with such an incredible group of good people. And talented people who cares so much about what they're building. And we got a lot more that we need to build but, but I'm just grateful and humbled that I get to work alongside these people. And I think most importantly, the people in the community here the fact that people spend their bit of their Sundays with us so we get to do orientation every Wednesday that we get to be in all these different rooms, you know, early community members who give us product feedback like color and decay and Baba and all of these people that that have helped us think through the product. All of the people that that that just share their thoughts and their feedback and ideas and who are hosting rooms and creating things and asking for things and and just the diversity of the community. I've never had a chance to meet so many people from different industries and different corners of the world who are smart and funny and have domain expertise and they care about about so many different things. So I'm just the people that that are here in this room and the people that that I get to build alongside every day.

15:38
Well said well said all right. I'm grateful for Lydia smiles. I'm grateful for my wife, Jen for everything that she does for our family and for Lydia and to me. I'm grateful for Tim you and his lab who work tirelessly to advance the science on fixing genetic diseases. And finally, I'm grateful to Paul, who is the best co founder that I could have asked for and for the clubhouse team, the best team that we imagine working with every single day

Paul
16:09
Ron was included in my first category and I did I did call you out specifically on the thank you ASOF show plus one

Anu
16:22
for the record. For the record the the replays are on so we can make sure

16:29
I'm okay so

Anu
16:30
to continue you know starting this up in a boring but I think meaningful way. I definitely want to give a big thanks just to friends and family I think for most always for just you know as much as possible all the quality time that we get to spend together which I think is actually you know, been been increased by the fact that we've been doing a lot more remote work in the pandemic and so, that's been amazing and I think overall just you know, the amount of understanding the support, just memories with family and friends and of course laughs Like always, always thankful for that. Also wanted to second kind of just thank thankfulness for health. And thank you to Science for helping keep us healthy. You know, I think like medicine and science is like a part of part of my world. I know it's a part of Ron's world and probably many of the other folks in this room and in the clubhouse community and I'm in awe of of all the work that people are doing to keep me and everyone healthy. Even when we're not consciously aware of it. There's so many people working on it, and I'm always appreciative of that. And, and not lastly, but third eye kind of thank you to creativity, because I think that's something that I'm always super passionate about and, and building that at scale and it's a part of so many things that I like to spend time on and clubhouses is definitely a big, big part of that. I'm so thankful for the creativity in the product, the people in the community, the creators, and all the collaboration within our team internally and also with you all whether you're listening to the town hall today or have shopped by other town halls or have you know, I guess chatter with us in any of the rooms that we often like to spend time with you all. So those are my thanks. And Steph, I will pass it over to you.

Stephanie
18:25
Alright, thanks. I was actually struck yesterday or I guess it was two days ago and Thanksgiving by a quote that I read from someone that I met here on clubhouse when I sort of skimmed past it Lex Fridman sort of May he's one for sharing pretty high level and sort of zoomed out thinking but this really struck me which was thank you to the process that originated life on Earth and the 100 plus billion people before us who dreamed created and together built are incredibly human civilization. And the main thing that struck me about that was how much it resonated, that those sentiments. I have felt really this last year on clubhouse because I think I've never felt the collective human experience more in my life than I have this last year with clubhouse and I think nothing has made me internalize or appreciate that more than clubhouse. You know, whether it's sort of thank you to everyone here that I've had the pleasure to laugh, cry, think rethink, learn, and be inspired by there's too many of you to name but I'm truly in my view, and truly blessed to feel like I'm part of this collective experience with you. Thanks to my family and their patients for my inconsistent clicking and gypsy life because I think it's like, you know, it's a it's a real thing. Thanks to my friends who same same I think for the way I choose to live my life. I think the people that show up for you, I think it's super meaningful, thanks to Paul Rohana Anu, everyone on our team that, you know, I've gotten to build this with because I think it's been just again, an incredible thing that I've had the pleasure of doing. And lastly to my partner who again, same sentiment, thanks for your patience for being with me, because I'm all over the place. But truly, truly, I meant what I said first. I I've been in on everyone that I've come across here on this platform, and really feel like I'm part of the community. And over the many weeks that we've shouted out to you the creators clubs, many of you that may have gone unnoticed. You haven't it either by me or someone else in the community. People see what you're creating people see what communities you're building, and I look forward to hopefully discovering you and what you're creating.

Paul
20:38
I just also want to say I know I speak on behalf of our ohana and cold teams. Big huge, massive thank you to ANU and Steph, for everything that they do for the community day in day out every weekend. Every Wednesday I do we do the user orientation but you're in like three other sessions. Doing moderator training, the whole I mean, the early days like everything that you set up all of the work the the emails you answer the texts you responded to stuff like all of the the conversations you've been in the Zoom calls the back channels, the programs, just the for finding this community and for how much both of you care about it and for our critical both of you have been to to helping support and serve it since the earliest days. So huge, huge, huge thank you Tanya and spent staff specifically

21:36
huge plus one two that while sad

Paul
21:41
Alright, so I just added a link to the blog post. If you want to read the full, the full thing. But that's really it. That's all that we really want to do today. Thank you to everyone who has attended one of our town halls or even just submitted questions or joined us for a surprise many town halls. We're just immensely immensely grateful to get to build this with you. As you know so much of what we do all the time.

22:14
The requests questions

Paul
22:15
and it's not just in town hall. It's user orientation and moderator training sessions and all the other conversations in between Stefan to wrap up any any messages from the back channel that that that you want to share from people sharing their things? Yep,

Anu
22:35
stuff you want to go first?

22:37
I do and if I can make it through this without crying, you know,

Paul
22:41
Oh, you better you better have a good one if you want to. All

Anu
22:44
right. So come up with something

Stephanie
22:46
okay. This is from Nick. He says I just want to say my massive thank you to you all. I found clubhouse right after I suffered a massive stroke and lost all ability to speak. I couldn't say a word was scared and lonely clubhouse became my rehab and connecting to Axel Abraxis Leah Rojas. Kat and many others helped me slowly get my power of speech back into safe place with friends I had never even met. I'm still super shy. But without clubhouse. I would be afraid to get words out. Thanks to you, and all that you do. You've been a blessing to me.

Anu
23:23
All right. I got a couple more. This is from P O ter. We're always talking about whether we're saying that correctly or not. So that's right. I hate so I want to say really appreciate having an uncensored space to engage in dynamic but stimulating me to discussions on current affairs and raise awareness about major global issues. And I have a lot more but stuff I don't know if you have others. We want to just go back and forth for a few.

Stephanie
23:56
Yes, I have more. I'm like getting the really sentimental ruff woods. Oh, okay. All right. That was incredible. I moved away from Texas and drove to Boston in 2019 was sick and hospitalized with an unrecognized respiratory symptoms. 2019 met the love of my life and he unexpectedly passed away September 2020. My now 22 year old son has joined the military and was also an empty nester. And also I'm an empty nester January I decided to give clubhouse a shot and because of what I need because of that, I made amazing connections with people mostly on other on other people's stages and lending work with world in a bit defeated through giving myself and and through giving myself and times to others it manifested great things with clubhouse. Sorry, Michelle, that was a I sort of skip through that but I wanted to make sure that I got through it. I think it sounds like she really has had a tough year and clubhouse was sort of here for her. So

Anu
25:01
all right. I'm gonna read one. Hi, no, I'm immensely grateful to cultivate community on this app being deemed immunocompromised as pandemic has proved that there's always more to be grateful for the not love to the hungry medium respectfully sit back and watch and the many other stages that have made room for me and my talents. PS I would be even more grateful for Android to get clips. This is from Marla Harris. So thank you so much Marlon. I'm so glad that you know this is this has been a space for people to gather and just feel welcome irrespective of even what's happening in the real world.

Stephanie
25:44
Or maybe one more and then we wrap. Alright, let's do it. There's so many by the way, guys, thank you so much for passing along the sentiment. I think for many people it's it feels great to sort of share gratitude out that's what Thank you ROS off is all about is just being able to sort of say it or share it so thank you for sharing it with me. My thanks is for clubhouse and connections to people living in New Zealand now and being a bit far from the US The holidays can feel very isolating. Being able to meet daily with new and old friends has been a true gift for both me and for my beloved and myself from the welcome rooms where I help others get started here to the bold singing room where people come in are stunned at the request to sing every word. There's much joy in my heart blessings and thank you for enriching my life. That's from Cindy Lou.

Anu
26:31
Alright, so many men I don't know. I don't know which one to read out. I'm just gonna read a quick one because I think this is this you know is a little bit at the heart of clubhouse. I love Clubhouse. I'm so thankful for clubhouse it changed my life in terms of learning various life changing information and being able to make great friends. Thank you so much for the platform. It's truly been a blessing. That is from Central cloud, but I got so many messages from folks that are representing different countries all over the world. Different languages deaf I'm sure you got the same. I know we didn't get to read them all out. But you know, shout outs from the French community from the Brazil community from the Indian community. So Tanzania in a big additional plus one just for our international communities as well as all the early communities in the US

Paul
27:34
I always I always feel I always feel awkward when people think club pass the platform because it's we say this a lot but like it's literally it's nothing without the people in it. It's it's a it's a what do we always have what you said it's intentionally a blank canvas filled with the faces of amazing people. And it's you know, I'm glad that we that we built clubhouse but like we it's this is not about clubhouse is about the community and the people here and the people who make it what it is every day. So thank you, thank you thank you thank you thank you everyone for for being part of it. And it would be nothing without any of the people here and thank that's it. Why don't we Why don't we wrap up, give people some their time back go hang out with your family, hang out with your friends. There's a lot of good product stuff launching this week. And I promise our next town hall will be filled with all sorts of information and announcements and answers to your questions. But today, go hang out with your family. Go hang out with your friends. Relax. And thank you for spending a little bit of this holiday Sunday with us. Browse the hallways if you like but you know I'd say get offline and have a great rest of your weekend. Thank you so much everyone, for being here today and for everything else. Talk to you soon.

Anu
29:08
Thank you. Thanks, everybody. Thanks, Paul. Thanks, guys. Everybody.
