Charles III's preferred suit style has remained unchanged from his days as the Crown Prince. Not only has it remained the same for the past three years, but one might argue that it has changed very little in the past thirty years. His distinctive look comprises muted grey or navy striped double or single-breasted suits, adorned with boutonnieres, pocket squares, and ties, creating a resplendent V-zone. Even when employing shades of pink or purple, his suits exude an air of timelessness, often due to their nature as pre-made garments that have been worn for many years.

Much like his suit style, what hasn't changed is Charles III's profound environmental awareness. In the late 1960s, he raised concerns about environmental pollution from plastic bottles, and during the exuberant 1980s, when the world was caught up in a bubble, he advocated for sustainability despite being labeled an eccentric. Finally, in the "awakened" 21st century, he proposed the Earth Charter Terra Carta at the One Planet Summit, presenting a roadmap for the future of the planet. He is now revered as the King of Sustainability.

The virtue that underlies Charles III's unchanging style and actions is known as integrity. It embodies a consistent nobility devoid of contradictions. Rather than wavering based on how others perceive him, he maintains a core identity of how he wishes to be. According to the Chairman of Rugby School Japan, opened in September, the most valued element for British gentlemen, whether in their dealings with people or in business, is this very integrity.
The unwavering consistency of the new king's beliefs may, at times, lead to avant-garde expressions that appear radical. For many years, he has continued to wear his beloved suits and shoes, even patching them up, known as "Charles patches." Moreover, during his own coronation ceremony, which reenacts centuries-old traditions, he orchestrated an unprecedented spectacle to demonstrate his support for advocates of all religions in a multi-faith society. The sight of a Hindu Prime Minister reciting the Bible, a Scottish Prime Minister donning a kilt, a female Speaker of the House brandishing a sword, and a black Anglican priest providing assistance was broadcast worldwide. It may appear astonishing at first, but understanding the underlying philosophy of the new king makes it seem like a rational expression befitting the new era.

Charles III's way of being teaches us what true conservatism entails, not in terms of superficial rules of attire or manners, but rather the importance of upholding one's principles based on a personal philosophy. Reflecting such a mindset in everyday choices can lead to the development of one's character as a rule-maker, rather than a mere rule follower.

Now, the brands beloved by such individuals include Gieves & Hawkes and Turnbull & Asser. These high-quality suits and shirts, which do not strongly assert individuality, are rarely swayed by trends and continue to serve as the lodestar of a gentleman's attire. This season happens to align with the taste of "quiet luxury," but British gentleman brands have adhered to this understated luxury since the era of the early 19th-century dandy, Beau Brummell. The times have only now caught up. What doesn't age is forever new.
