In the early '60s, when Japan was in the midst of doubling its income, a TV program titled KAORU KANETAKA'S "THE WORLD AROUND US" was watched in the living room on Sunday mornings.
   She described Perth as the most livable city all over the world and also the most beautiful sunset over the Indian Ocean all over the world.

#  '60年代初頭の日本、所得倍増で熱かった時代、「兼高かおる世界の旅」と銘打ったTV番組に日曜日の午前中茶の間は見入った。
　彼女は、パースを世界で一番美しい街、インド洋にしずむ夕日が世界一美しいと表現した。

The Cottesloe coast is a 20-minute walk from Cottesloe Station, a 19-minute train ride from Perth Station on the Fremantle line.

コッテスロー海岸は、フリーマントル線でパース駅から19分のコッテスロー駅で下車、歩いておよそ20分で到着する。

My amazing experience with Aussies in Matilda Bay

#   マチルダ−ベイでのオージーとの素晴らしい経験

On holidays, children can be seen jumping into the river from the two jetties floating on the shallows on the Swan River.

#   スワン河の浅瀬に浮かぶ桟橋、休日には河に飛び込む子供たちのすがたをみることができる。

In Matilda Bay, near the University of Western Australia, is full of its sandy beach, lawn, plantings and sunshine.
   We can see many yachts moored at the Royal Perth Yacht Club over there.

#   砂浜と芝生と植栽と日差し溢る、西オーストラリア大学の近くマチルダ ベイ。
　  向こうに、ロイヤルパースヨットクラブに係留されたヨットを望む

There are some garden tables and benches set up in the park. Public barbecue facilities are located on the side.

Sandy beach by the river is crowded with families on holidays.

My last day in Perth, I went out to my favorite caffe, which is located on Matilda Bay on the Swan River. I had got a great experience from the Aussies there.

#   パース滞在最後の日、スワン河のマチルダ−ベイにあるお気に入りのカフェへ出かけた。私は、そこでオージーから素晴らしい体験を得ることができた。

A cheerfully Aussie college students are at the table across from me.

#   陽気なオージの大学生たち。

I ordered a cap of flat white and a croissant sandwich - ham cheese tomato. It was surprising filling, so when I finished half of it, I started social media with my son’s family. Then suddenly I heard a shout of Aussie college students group at the table across from me. So that I watched the scene that a crow took away my sandwich into the air. I was thinking, “Oh my God.”, and reported the sight of the croissant sandwich floating in the air to my family on SNS.

#   フラットホワイトとクロワッサンサンド—ハム・チーズ・トマト—を注文した。意外に食べ応えがあったので半分食べ終わったところで、家族とSNSを始めた。すると、突然向かいのテーブルの大学生たちが大声をあげたので、を視線を上げるとカラスが、私のサンドを持ち去るのを目撃した。「なんてことだ」と思いつつ、空中に浮かんだクロワッサンサンドを家族にSNSで報告した。

There are  lightly roasted, cheese melted croissant sandwich. Aussies love flat whites more than cappuccinos.

#   軽くローストされ、チーズが溶けたクロワッサンサンド。オージーはカプチーノよりもフラットホワイトが大好物。

Then suddenly I heard a voice and looked up to see a blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman standing in front of my table talking about something. I could barely hear her, but when I looked down to my table, I saw a croissant sandwich in a to-go paper bag.With my English skills. I could only say, “Sankyu so much,” and I reglet that I wasn’t able to express her my sincere gratitude.

#   すると突然声が聞こえ、顔を上げると金髪碧眼の女性が私のテーブルの前に立って何か話ていた。ほとんど聞き取れなかったが、ふとテーブルに視線を遷すと、持ち帰り用の紙袋に入ったクロワッサンサンドが目に入った。私の英語力では、”Sankyu so much” と言うのが精一杯で、満足のいくお礼ができなかったことがとても心残りだ。

A momentary encounter with a friendly and cheerful Aussies is truly a once in a lifetime experience.
     I was surprised that an Aussie who witnessed an Asian who had his croissant sandwich taken away by a crow on the terrace seat of a cafe in Matilda Bay, where tourists are rarely seen, ordered it at the cafe counter and gave it to me as a gift.
     However, the table I was sitting at is on the terrace, through the glass from the order counter place, and the Aussie probably witnessed it.

#   気さくで陽気なオージーのとの一瞬の出会いは、まさに一期一会だ。
     観光客をほとんど見かけることのない、マチルダベイのカフェのテラス席でクロワッサンサンドをカラスに持ち去られたアジア人を目撃したオージーが、それをカフェのカウンターで注文して私にプレゼントしてくれたことに驚かされた。
     最も私の座っていたテーブルは、注文カウンターからガラス越しのテラス席だ、多分一部始終を目撃したのだろう。

After the college students leave, the table become the one for regular customers the crows.

There are many cafes in Perth that are in great locations.
     The cafe facing the Claisebrook Cove, west of Victoria Gardens in East Perth, offers beautiful views.

#   パース市内には、素晴らしいロケーションに佇むカフェがたくさんある。
    イーストパースのビクトリアガーデンの西、クレス・ブルック入江に面したカフェでは、美しい景色を堪能できる。

#   スワン河のクレス・ブルック入江の風景、奥右の森一帯がビクトリアガーデン、正面にトラファルガー橋。この入江の両側には集合住宅が、特に右側にはカフェやレストランが数軒並んでいる。

Kings Park         #   キングスパーク

Kings Park is a vast natural garden located on a hill in the western part of Perth. The Botanic Garden and an arched bridge, which is a combination of glass and steel, are the highlights. In summer, concerts are held on grassy area sloping down toward the pond.

#   キングスパークは、パース市の西部の高台にある広大な自然を生かした庭園。ボタニックガーデンとガラスと鉄を組み合わせた弓形の橋が見どころ。夏には、池に向かう芝生の斜面を利用した場所でコンサートが開かれる。

Kings Park is at the top of the hill on Mount Street. Lined with jacaranda trees, light purple flowers in spring, with a unique fragrance. It’s summer.

#   マウント通りの坂を登りきったところがキングス・パーク。ジャンカランダ並木、春には薄紫の花が咲き乱れる、独特な香りがある。いまは夏。

Jkob's Rader near the entrance to Kings Park is the name health-conscious Aussies give to the steel stairs that run up the 38-meter elevation gain on Cliff St. in the early mornings and on holidays. In early summer, the trees beside the stairs are covered with red and purple flowers.

キングス パークの入り口近くの Jkob’s Rader は、健康おたくのオージーが早朝や休日にCliff St.の38mの標高差を駆け上がる鉄階段につけた名前だ。初夏には階段の傍に植えられた木に赤紫の花が咲き乱れている。

There are some free guided walks with a volunteer to start at the same time on every day in the Botanic Garden at Kings Park. There’s also a route that includes crossing the arched Federation Walkway is a combination of glass and steel with a view of the valley floor.

#   キングス・パークのボタニック・ガーデンには、毎日定時にボランティアが案内する参加自由の庭園散策がある。ガラスと鋼鉄で作られた下が透けて見える弓形橋を渡るコースもある。

The Botanical Cafe is open in the morning, so you will see Aussies coming in for breakfast and cyclists having a beer after an early morning ride.

#   ボタニカル・カフェは朝から開いているので、朝食を食べに来るオージーたちや、早朝から一走りしたサイクリストたちが、ビールを飲んだりしているのを見かける。

Beer and Aussies favorite, the flat white is a bit more bitter than the cappuccino and has a slightly different milk flavor..

Walking around Fremantle

This is the entrance to the Fremantle Arts Center.
     You can also eat at the Canvas Cafe in the courtyard surrounded by trees and flowers blooming.

The WA Shipwrecks Museum, which is well worth a visit, is free of charge, but donations are welcome.

Rocky Road, a cake often seen in cafes, is mainly marshmallow and chocolate with nuts and dried fruits added. It’s so sweet and delicious.

#   カフェでよく見かけるロッキーロードは、マシュマロとチョコレートを主にナッツとドライフルーツを加えたケーキ。とても甘くて美味しい。

This photo is a meal at the "Civic Center" across from the Perth Station ticket gate on the overpass. It is run by volunteers and is a gathering place for the elderly, person with disabilities, children, and of course, tourists. It’s a plate of salad and a muffin.
