These days, I often have problems with my computer while teaching online. A notification saying "Your network connection is unstable" sometimes appears. It occurred during today's lesson, too.

One of my students pointed out that having multiple devices connected to the WiFi network might be causing the instability. I have three smartphones including a SIM-less iPhone, an iPad mini, a Kindle, and a Kindle Fire, all connected to the WiFi network. So I turned off their WiFi connections, and the problem improved.

He also suggested I purchase a relay router to help alleviate the issue. He kindly said, "I plan to visit a YODOBASHI Camera store today, so I'll take the opportunity to search for a good router for you."  I'm glad to have such a helpful and reliable student who can help me solve technical problems.

P.S. 最近、オンラインレッスン中にインターネットが不安定 (unstable)、というような通知 (notification) がでて、声が聞こえなくなったり問題が起きるようになりました。きょうも起きたのですが、エンジニアの生徒さんからWiFiに繋がっているデバイスが複数あるとそういう現象が起きるとの指摘を受けました。

そういえば私はデバイスを複数持っていて、あまり使っていない物もあったのですが、最近はNHKのラジオ用、ストリーミング用など（壊れていないし捨てるのがもったいないので）用途を分けて使っていました。

それらのデバイスのWiFiをオフ (turn off) にしたところ状況は少し改善 (improve)したのですが、中継ルーターを使うのもよいということでした。（その生徒さんが、きょうヨドバシに行くのでついでに良さそうなのを探してきてくれるそうです。ありがたいことです！）当分は、いつも使っているスマホ以外はWiFiをオフにしておいて、使う時だけつなぐようにしようと思います（面倒ですが…）。
