英詩のマガジンの本配信、今月2本目です。歌われる詩の1回めです。今回はボブ・ディラン7枚目のアルバム 'Blonde on Blonde' (1966) に収められた 'I Want You' です(「アイ・ウォント・ユー」)。

この歌が録音されたのは1966年3月10日 (テーク5; Studio A, Columbia Recording Studios, Nashville [アルバム 'Blonde on Blonde' に収録されたもの])。

キャッチーな、聞取りやすいポップな歌かと思いきや、隠喩に富み、答えられぬ質問の数々をもつ、複雑な豊かさを内包した歌であり、その絶妙なバランスがパラドクスを感じさせます。

まとめ

ボブ・ディランの 'I Want You' は、ディランとしては珍しいくらいポップな歌であるが、簡潔で直接的なメッセジをもつコーラスとは裏腹に、3分では収まりきらないほどの多彩で謎めいた登場人物が出てくる歌でもある。
