Friendships by the sea

Like truth, the idea of friendship is contingent on the experience garnered thus far. It varies from one to another what this word entails and how you go about your life treating it. In my view, the amount of skin-deep friendships overwhelms those genuine, especially in this place. One has to comb through many a person to find the one that naturally clicks and deserves the title of a friend.

I am fortunate in it that I have made two genuine friends over the span of 10 years, in this very place. When I say genuine, I go by my definition. Like love, these friendships happen organically, a magic happens where a web of common experiences ties you to that person and instantaneously builds an ineradicable foundation of trust and love.

Years may pass, yet you do not doubt this relationship for it is constant. It continues from where it left off and grows upon itself into something more. Unlike love, there is no insecurity here, no ambivalence and this fills one with comfort that overpowers any insecurity or fear. The word unconditional applies here more than when it comes to love. Akin to family, true friendships do not look at money, do not hesitate to speak the truth, pick you up when you most need it, and are always there.
