Thomas Blake Glover was a man who is a young trader, and merchant from Scotland. The patriots of Japan who had a relationship with him eventually grew up and changed Japan.

 

 Glover Garden is located on a hill in Minami-Yamate where you can overlook the panoramic view of Nagasaki Port, which was loved by great men.

 

 Nagasaki, which had developed as an international trade port since ancient times, opened its port at the end of the isolation period, and the shogunate officially allowed foreigners to live there, giving birth to the Nagasaki Foreign Settlement. In addition to the three Western-style buildings that were originally in this area, including the former Glover House, six historical buildings scattered throughout Nagasaki City during the Meiji period have been relocated and restored. The stone pavement and stone steps, which are reminiscent of the settlement era, bring out the flavor of history and culture.

 

 These are designated as national important cultural properties, and among them, the former Glover House is registered as one of the constituent assets of the World Cultural Heritage "Sites of Japan's Meiji Industrial Revolution".
