先日子供達と横浜みなとみらいのカップヌードルミュージアムに行き、Nissinカップヌードルについて思いを馳せた。
カップヌードルは数あれど、いまだにたまに食べたくなるのは「日清カップヌードル」一択。最初の販売が1971年、何と半世紀以上前。昭和真っ盛りの時代から色々なものが進化して生活も大きく変わった、けれど今でもカップヌードルは「日清カップヌードル」なのが不思議。定番ってすごいなあ。

日本のインスタント＆カップラーメンは本当に美味しい。
そういえば、アメリカの小学校でランチとして「Nissin Cup Noodle」を持ってくる子供が結構いてビックリしたのだけど、アメリカのカップヌードルは日本人からするとイマイチ。。というかローカライズされているためか味が薄くて物足りなかった。今やThe日本のラーメンは海外でも大人気だし、絶対日本版のほうが良いと思うのだけれどなあ…。

カップヌードルミュージアムでは味や具材をカスタマイズしたオリジナルヌードルを作ることができる。出来上がったカップヌードルは真空パックになって首からかけて持ち歩けるようになっているのもお洒落だ。カップも自分で色を付けたりイラストを描いたりできて子供たちは大喜び。自宅で実際食べられるのもお土産として最適だと思う。

私の母は70を過ぎているが今でも時々カップヌードルを食べるのが楽しみだという。大好物、というほどではないけれど、きっと私もおばあちゃんになっても食べているのだろうなあ。

The other day, I went to the Cup Noodle Museum in Yokohama Minato Mirai with my children and reminisced about Nissin Cup Noodles. While there are many cup noodles available, the one I still occasionally crave is ”Nissin Cup Noodles”.
It's remarkable how even after more than half a century since its initial release in 1971, amidst the heyday of the Showa era when many things evolved and lifestyles changed significantly, Cup Noodles remains synonymous with Nissin. It's amazing how something can become such a staple.

Instant and cup ramen in Japan are truly delicious. Come to think of it, I was surprised to see quite a few children bringing "Nissin Cup Noodle" for lunch at American elementary schools. However, American cup noodles, from a Japanese perspective, are not quite up to par. Perhaps due to localization, they taste bland and unsatisfying. Japanese ramen has become hugely popular overseas, and I believe the Japanese version is definitely superior...

At the Cup Noodle Museum, we can customize the flavor and ingredients to create your own original noodles. The finished cup noodles come vacuum-packed, designed to be worn around the neck for easy carrying, which is quite stylish. Children can also customize the cup by coloring or drawing illustrations, which they absolutely love. Being able to enjoy them at home makes it a perfect souvenir.
My mother, who is over 70, still enjoys eating cup noodles from time to time.　While cup ramen isn't an absolute favorite of mine, I'm sure I'll still be eating it even as I get older.
