今回のお題は…Look! See! Watch!

みなさんこの３つ、何が違うかわかります？
うまく使い分けられているでしょうか。
ちょっと一緒に整理してみましょうね！

Look - 
to look at something for a reason, with an intention.
意図を持って、何かの理由があって見る事。

A)Look! Look!
　見てみて！

B) What am I looking at?
　何を？

A)Look at that strange animal over there. What is it?
　見て、あそこにかわった動物がいる。なんだろう？

B) Beats me.※
　わからない。※

A) Look at these pictures I took on vacation.
　わたしが休暇の時に撮った写真を見てください。

B) Wow! This one is really picturesque.
　わー！本当に絵みたいに綺麗ですね。

See - 
to 'see' something that comes into our sight that we weren’t looking for.
何かが視界に入ってきて、それを見る事。

・Did you just see that bird? – I wasn’t looking for it, it just appeared.
鳥が見えましたか？-　　　見つけられなかった。いなくなっちゃった。

A)I saw you the other day.
 いつだか君の事見たよ。

B) Really? Where?
 本当？どこでで？

A)You were getting in a taxi near the station.
 駅の近くでタクシーに乗るところだった。

・I'm going to see the new Batman v Superman movie this weekend.
私は今週末「バットマンvスーパーマン」の新作映画を観に行きます。

Watch -
to look at something carefully and deliberately, usually at something which is moving.
基本的に何か動いているものを注意深く慎重に見る事です。

・'Watch TV'- the TV doesn’t move, but you watch the moving images carefully.
 テレビを見るーテレビは動きませんが、動画を慎重に見ますよね。

・We binge-watched the entire first season of “THE X-FILE last Sunday.
 私たちは先週日曜日、Xファイルの最初のシーズンを次々と見た。

・The road sign said: "CAUTION! WATCH OUT FOR DEER AHEAD.”
 道路標識「鹿の飛び出しに注意！」
