今回のお題は！　HOUSE vs HOME

The difference between HOUSE and HOME can be a little confusing to people learning English. But the difference is really simple, as I'm about to explain.
HouseとHomeの違い、みなさん分かりますか？ちょっと紛らわしいですよね。でも、違いはとってもシンプルです。

A HOUSE is the BUILDING where the majority of people live. It normally has bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a dining room.
HOUSEは人々が住む「建物」の事です。寝室、キッチン、リビングルーム、お風呂、ダイニングルームがあるのが普通ですよね。

A HOME is a PLACE where someone lives. Normally it is a house but it can be other things too: a narrowboat (a boat on a canal which someone lives in), a caravan (called a trailer or camper in the US, is a house which is similar to a van or truck, which can be driven around) or an apartment (or a flat, or a condo which is short for 'condominium').
HOMEは誰かが住む「場所」の事です基本的に家の事ですが、他の事でも言う事ができます。ナローボート、キャラバン、アパート（コンドミニアム）もHOMEという事ができます。

Types of Houses 家の種類

Here is a list of different types of houses:
- The most common is a detached house – a house which stands on its own and touches nothing else).
最も一般的な一戸建ての事。

- Another type of house is a semi-detached house (called a duplex in the US). This type of house touches another house on one side, and they share the wall between them.
もう一つのタイプは半一戸建てがあります。（片側の家をくっついており、壁をもう一つの家と共有する形のもの）

- A common house in London is a terrace house (called a row house in the US) which touches another house on both sides.
ロンドンで最も一般的なのは、両側が別の家をくっついている形のテラスハウスです。

- Another kind is a bungalow (called a ranch house in the US).
また別の種類では、バンガローがあります。

Animals have homes but they don’t have houses (apart from dogs – a doghouse or dog kennel is the small wooden house where a dog sleeps outside).
動物はHOMEは持っているけれども、HOUSEは持っていません。（犬の場合は、外で飼う場合木でできた犬小屋（ドッグハウス）がありますね。）

What's a rabbit's home called? A warren (the maze of tunnels underground where a large group of rabbits live).
うさぎの家は何と言うと思いますか？
「ウォーレン」と言います。（大きな群れで住んでいる地下の迷路のようなトンネルの事です。）

Where does a fox live? In a den (a hole made in the ground).
では、キツネはどこに住んでいるでしょう？
「デン」という地面を掘った穴ぐらに住んでいます。
