Review : Travis Japan Concert Tour 2024  Road to Authenticity

Travis Japan is a seven-member J-POP boy band who made their global debut with “JUST DANCE!” from Capitol Records on October 28, 2022.

Last year, they held their debut concert tour “THE SHOW”, which attracted 235,000 people, and are currently holding the “Travis Japan Concert Tour 2024 -Road to Authenticity- ” in support of their debut album “Road to A”. 

If you are to ask me, "Who is the best artist worth going to see concert? I would answer "Travis Japan" without hesitation.

It was such a euphoric concert.

Luxurious stage sets and flashy productions are among the highlights of STARTO ENTERTAINMENT's live performances, but "Travis Japan Concert Tour 2024 Road to Authenticity “ was surprisingly simple.

That doesn't mean you have to be disappointed. The moving stage, which moves back and forth from the main stage over the arena seats, becomes the center stage and the back stage, and the image of the laser beam and the large monitor creates a world view of the song.

In addition, they used a small vehicle called a “Torokko" ( It nicknamed "Torakko” because it shaped like a Tiger. Tiger is pronounced TORA in Japanese.) to traverse the entire hall with such vigor that it seemed to be the front seat in every place, and the fan service they did was representative of their motto of “Leaving no one behind."

For about two and a half hours, except for the talk time and fan service on the Torakko, they sang and danced intensely, pushing themselves to the limits of their physicality.

Their singing voices were as steady as if they were straight from a CD, and the most notable performance was Kaito Miyachika's high tone voice in "Till The Dawn"!

The group showed the results of their past efforts, which were sparked by their ambition to improve after Howie Mandel criticized their singing voice at the AGT semi-finals in 2022.

It was a shocking moment that Howie pushed the buzzer, but even more than that, the comments such as "It's seemed like a parody. This looks like a Saturday Night Live skctch." were harsh, and I will never forget their disappointed expressions.

After their debut, they continued to refine their songs and performances during their busy activities in Japan. At the concert, they mesmerized the audience by finishing both their singing and rapping better than ever before.

Maybe, the tour title "Road to Authenticity" is the antithesis of that day's buzzer and a sign of determination, isn’t it?

One of the lead songs "Okie Dokie!" may also have come from Simon Cowell's comment after seeing Travis Japan's performance of My Dreamy Hollywood.

In January of this year, they performed their debut song "JUST DANCE! " at AGT Fantasy League 2024. Although they did not make it to the semi-finals, they were applauded by the full house. 

AGT was definitely a big turning point for them as performers.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy their dancing at close range at the concert. Their dancing exceeded my expectations, the beauty, power, sharpness, and groove of their dance up close was overwhelming. The undulation of the muscles on their backs was like the agility and suppleness of a wild animal, like a panther or cheetah, showing off the beauty of their well-trained physical abilities.

I think the attempt to attract the audience with a live performance rather than relying on stage effects was a great success.

With the announcement of a showcase in Thailand, Travis Japan's activities overseas are expected to increase in the future.

Now, Travis Japan is popular in Japan, but worldwide, they are "Almost Famous".  If you have a chance, you should definitely see their performance.

Travis Japan has announced their first world tour! “Travis Japan World Tour 2024 Road to A” will begin in Taipei on September 3, with stops in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York.
