参詣者数において関東地方屈指の寺である。初詣の参拝客数は、2006年に約275万人、2007年に約290万人を数えており、社寺としては明治神宮に次ぐ全国第2位（千葉県内第1位）、寺院に限れば全国第1位の参拝客数である[2]。今も昔も加持祈祷のために訪れる人が多いことでも知られる。成田国際空港に近いことから、外国人観光客にも人気がある。
