LDP's small rat race for partisan presidency. Indifference to the world is alive and well.

Japan not worthy of attention

The author Peter Landers put it this way in WSJ September 3 issue (A1,A8).

The early departure of Mr. Suga raises the risk that the world’s third-largest economy will fall into another period resembling the 1990s and 2006-12, when prime ministers changed nearly every year and the country’s profile on the international stage withered.

He is right.

But although its profile on the international stage might wither, Japan itself won’t  change either for the better or for the worse at least in terms of political attitude.

Because the ruling party itself won’t change. LDP have been conservative since its foundation and will be so forever.

Its nature has been pro-America and pro-big businesses. That’s all.

Japan's indifference to the world is alive and well

The LDP(Liberal Democratic Party of Japan) pays no attention to what it appears in the international arena when they are changing their leaders year by year through the 1990s and 2006-12 as he mentioned.

Yes, this should scale down the presence of Japan in the world and it did.

This also indicates Japan is still the country where it can exist without aligning itself to the rest of the world.

You should advise that we directly elect our prime minister directly rather than LDP does it itself so that we can fix the term like 4 years not allowing leader’s frequent changes.

Unless 4 years or less, world leaders should find it difficult to built stable relationship with Japan.

Do not expect Japan to internationalize itself because we are domestic by nature.

Japan won't change either for the better or the worse

In other words, you other countries find it always easy to deal with Japan because of the conservative nature. We are coherent as well.

Because of the high coherent nature of Japanese group not excluding LDP, you will end up requiring no dramatic change in relationship with Japan.

The next LDP leader, or the next prime minister will be Mr. Kono who allegedly said to be a revolutionist.

But you see, he already has started to change his anti-nuclear stance to get a favor from his faction which former prime minister Aso rules. Aso is a well-known pro-business in favor of nuclear industries.

What I mean by pro-America as the second nature of LDP is that we have no option except relying on America for defense because of geopolitical conditions and our poor forces.

So, President Biden, our new leader is a trifle matter to your country.

Japan is always pro-America and pro-big businesses except that oppositions will turnover the LDP for November general election which sadly has no chance to occur.
