#24 return north!

Jo-etsu Shinkansen left TOKIO on time, and was passing Omiya, for Takasaki.  Hearing that Mother suffered from a disease, FURUDA decided to return to hometown, Niigata Pref.  In the train, elder Sister, who happened to be in TOKIO on business, was sitting next to him, window seat.  
"How is she sick?" FURUDA
"Who's sick?" Sister
"Mother, isn't she?" F
"She isn't sick." S 
"Told me a lie, to bring me back?" F
"She wants you Shigeki to take over the house." S
She mimicked Mother.
"I've gotten old and weak, so I hope Shige will quit job and come back." S
"She is always saying so." F
"But you will not quit, will you?" S
"Yes, I will.  To tell you the truth, I've got tired of lawyer." F
"Really?" S 
They arrived at Takasaki Station.
"Wanna wash hands." F
The train left again.
"Ah, Shigeki!" S
He waved hand to her outside of windows, and went to another platform.

Kan-etsu Highway, there happened MYSTERIOUS accdents.  Okano Masaji, a young guy, was driving with a girl friend on the highway.  In and out of the car, explosive sound of music was blaring, and on the dashboard, there were a lot of small staffed dolls tightly lined up.  His up-riced wagon was driving from Tokorozawa to Higashi-matsuyama.  Opening the power window at toll gate, Okano unenthusiastically reached right hand to take a highway ticket.  Flirting from ramp to highway, the car accelerated little by little.  When it reached more than 100km/h, a strange voice repeatedly sounded out of nowhere.

"What it mean?  Impossible!"
Smiling at first, he did not mind, but got more and more uneary.
"Masa, here we are…  " Gal
"No way.  It's OK." Mas
Decelerating, or reducing speed, the wagon was blown up into the air.  

The similar accident happened around Akagi Interchange.

KIRIYA told his members about the news.
"Shall we investigate it?"
"Just in case." KIRIYA
Then, FURUDA received a call.
"M, mom!"
"Shigeki, I want you to back, to talk, so I've come."
FURUDA told the members about it.
"OK, I'll investigate Kan-etsu.  YURI, sorry, but could you take care of her?" FURUDA
Get into yellow VW Beetle, he left the hideout as if running away.  On the way, he found he had left ETC card in the base, probably because he was in a hurry.  So, he drove into Ken-o-do with highway ticket.  Usually, when he goes to Niigata, you should go straight to Tsurugashima.  But that time, since he had to make a wide investigation, he got out of Iruma and directed the car to Tokorozawa Inter, where he got a highway ticket again.

YURI and MOROBOSHI picked up FURUDA's Mother at the station.  
"He's gone out to investigate some accident." YURI
"Hah…"
"I guess he'll back soon." YURI
"Hah…"
"Please wait for him to return in our facility." YURI
"Hah…"

FURUDA was driving carefully on left slow lane at 80-90 km/h, especially from Tokorozawa to Higashi-matsuyama.  When he passed Ranzan Ogawa, he speeded up and heard the voice.

"Unbelievable!  Such a thin paper card can speak."
FURUDA got in touch with KIRIYA.
"Anyway, just continue to drive." K
"I know.  There could be something wrong with the highway ticket, which has hidden itself somewhere in the car.  Tell the users to be careful, even though almost all drivers would use ETC." F
"It will take him more than one hour to drive to Nagaoka.  If it use Hokuriku-do, at leart two hours.  Within the two hours, the problem has to be solved." K

DAN took Mother to the guest room. 
"I heard you were sick.  Have you got well yet?" D
"Hah…"
"You came to see him all the way, didn't you?" D
"Hah…  I came to bring him back."
"Bring him back?  To Niigata?" D
"Hah…"
"He will quit his job?" D
"I want him to…"
YURI came in.
"MOROBOSHI kun, do you have a second?"
"What happened?" D
"Serious trouble happened to FURUDA kun."

"We will have to block Kan-etsu Highway.  MOROBOSHI, follow him from above by HAWK 1.   YURI, bring his Mother here.  FURUDA, don't panic and calm down." Professor KIRIYA
His Beetle was passing Akagi Inter, when he calmly judge the situation, remembering Mother he left after. 
"I might never be able to see her again." FURUDA
Then, ET radar responded to Mt Akagi.  He heard the voice.

The aliens were going to control the whole highways for INVADE, which runs all over Japan like blood vessels all over human body.

When HAWK 1 approached Mt Akagi, DAN caught MYSTERIOUS radio wave from the steel skeleton tower at the center of Blood Pond, or Chi-no-ike.  He landed on near the MYSTERIOUS pond to find its sourse.

KIRIYA politely invited Mother to the operation room.
"Shigeki…"
"Shigeki speakin', nn?"
"Shigeki?"
"Mom!"
"What are you doing?"
"Investigating."
"Far away?"
"Now around Tsukiyono, close to Niigata.  I'll enter the long tunnel soon."
"Tsukiyono.  We passed each other, didn't we?"
"We did.  I'm in Niigata, and Mom in TOKIO."
They were laughing at each other for a while, when
a teardrop ran down on his cheek.
(Good bye, Mother.)
 FURUDA had already been prepared, or determined, but never given up life.

Mother was watching the members working hard.
(Shigeki, you are working not only as a lawyer but also for the Earth as a Youth member, aren't you?)

FURUDA went through the tunnel.  Kan-etsu do had been already closed, so there were no cars moving.  He was just driving, doing the best and leaving the rest to God.

MOROBOSHI summoned avatar MICRA and asked it to chase after Beetle by HAWK 1.  Then, he felt a new radio wave emitted from the tower.  
(Underground right below the bottom of Blood Pond.)

He put on red glasses and teleported into the spaceship.  During a flash, he knocked down three aliens, one of which switched on self-destruction system.

Just before the KA-BOOM, he had teleported again into HAWK 1, which MICRA was navigating.  DAN switched places with it.

The yellow car was passing Muika-machi.  Even though aliens CANNAN were gone, the paper bomb was still active.  DAN caught up with FURUDA and approached the car as much as he could.
"FURUDA san, accelerate to the utmost,  put gear in neutral, and transfer to HAWK!!!"
FURUDA opend the driver's door as told, and placed both hands,  quickly and tightly, on the door of HAWK 1.  Then, high phsical ability easily allowed him to ride on.  The VW Beetle crushed into the median strip at Ojiya Interchange, and was blown up to the yellow.  FURUDA and DAN held each othes' hand firmly.  

The problem was solved.  When FURUDA returned in one piece to the hideout, he did not see Mother.
"She has already left for Niigata." 
"Got it.  Saved here again."
"FURUDA, I know you are tired, but could you go to carry out the post-survey to Niigata by HAWK?  Take your time, please." 
"YES HOPE!!!"

At dusk above Sanjo-tsubame Inter.
"You came all the way.  Nevertheless, Mom, why did you return so early?"
"You don't have to worry about the house any more.  I realized how important it is to do hard what you man decided to."
"Hah…"  sighed FURUDA, "All quiet above Niigata!"

Flame of setting sun over the sea was beautiful beyond description.
