ラッツ＆スターとももいろクローバーZの黒塗り騒動に関して、当のアメリカ黒人たちはどう感じているのか？

ここに、その一例がある。文章を寄せてくれたのは30代前半の黒人男性だ（交渉＝池尻安希女史、和訳＝ワシ）。

黒人であることが何を意味するか知ってる？

それが意味するのは……いつも目立ってしまうこと（異質だから）。
自分の価値を証明し続けなければならないこと。
個人なのに、黒人という民族全体の代表例と見なされること。
良い部分は喰い物にされ、悪い部分が少しでもあれば貶められること。
誤解されること、信用されないこと。
対等には扱われないこと。
生命が軽視されること。

この日本人ミュージシャンの意図は理解できるが、それでも無礼で無神経だ。いかに黒人が搾取されるか、いかに他人種が黒人の功績から不当な利益を得るか、の一例に過ぎない。
かつては白人が顔を黒塗りし、黒人を題材に笑いをとるショウをやっていた。こうしたショウは、黒人に対する差別や先入観を助長し、ネガティヴな黒人像を残した。そのステレオタイプは、今も健在だ。

黒人文化は、いつもビュッフェのように扱われる。まるで、気に入ったものだけピックアップして、残りは無視していいかのように。黒人には、他人種が信じているステレオタイプ以外のあり方が許されないかのように。
件の日本人アーティストがやっていることは、我々への賞賛に見えるかもしれない。しかし実際には、黒人の人間性を奪うものだ。
商品化され、パッケージとして売られる黒人文化。それは悪である。それによって、我々黒人の存在自体は軽んじられるのだから。

Do you know what it means to be black?

It means to always stand out (because you’re different). It means to prove yourself. It means to be looked at as a representative of an entire race. It means to be exploited for all the good and torn down for the tiniest bit of bad. It means to be misunderstood and not trusted. It means to not be equal. It means that our lives are not important.

I understand the sentiment of what these musicians in Japan are trying to do, but it’s disrespectful and insensitive. Their actions are another example of how black people get exploited, how another race unfairly benefits from the work of black people. In the past, white men would paint their faces black and put on shows that made fun of blacks. These shows contribute to the discrimination and prejudice of black people and left negative stereotypes that are still around today.

The black culture is constantly treated like a buffet for people to pick and choose what they like and ignore the rest. It seems that black people get no identity beyond the stereotypes other people believe are true. What these Japanese artists are doing might seem like a compliment, but it only leads to the dehumanization of black people. The black culture has become a product; packaged and sold which is bad because it makes us not as important.
